S2 cores can be had for $400 these days. If he's looking for consistant 12's, most people are not happy with SSIC at that level. The proven tested temperature drops are around 80 degrees, vs. 140 degrees on a full size. The largest FMHE you can buy will not lower the air temps of that intake charge, it just helps so that you don't cycle through water fast enough that it doesn't have time to cool down to do its job. For the money involved in Intercooling altogether, I just think the SSIC is a waste at that level of mods. Your going to be pulling timing and probably run a 3.0 pulley, with race gas either more timing or 2.8 pulley.

There is not too many people out there running 12's with a SSIC...

I ran that 14.0 with stock manifolds, dp and mail order tune, I have a stg2 IC, ported LIM, fully ported S/C, N*, Pacesetters and other stuff but I'm waitin on fuel rails and a cam, college tuition and books are no joke... But why should that matter?

well, im just saying. you can get a bunch of use out of a ssic and easily make it to the 12s. you dont need an ic to hit 12s, just traction and a cam setup. you just have to tune the crap out of it and tweak everything so it runs optimally for your setup.

im probably going to be running low 13s on a rockered car. but i think its better to build a setup on the side, so im debating putting my car in storage and building it. dont want to run turbo though, blower only. want to stay non-ic too. might run meth. just want big heads and a big cam.

    Thanks for replies everyone.

Why the halo? cause it will provide better cooling it seems. Ice the fins and it should drop the temp at least a few degrees, and since i will be making it myself, the cost will be very negligable(below $40 not including the prototype I am making).

I chose the SSIC over a fullsize because honestly, I don't feel like doing all the extra upgrades a fullsize should have IE machined intake etc. I wanted a simple kit and that is what i bought. I could machine the intake myself but this is my daily for now and i cant go to work to machine the LIM when i don't have a car to get me there.

kingd44- Certain people just have certain goals in mind for the hell of it. For example, i had a goal of 13's on stock pulley. Another guy is running low 12's on his rocker car. Just to see that you can get their without putting a particular big mod on there. When you get a cam, at least 90# s[rings are recommended, but heads are only required once you get into the big cams ie XPZ or s2 intense cam. Im told an XP is the highest you can go on stock heads, and i will be using 105 springs. Rockers are much easier but the power gains from a cam as compared to rockers are night and day.

fosho99- I said I would be running the appropriate pulley. If i had to run a 4.7 pulley to get the most timing i could without knocking that is what it would be. There is nothing set in stone about what kind of pulley i NEED to run. I just figured from what i have heard, with XP setups and headers alone you can run a 3.2 very well, so i figuured a 3.0 to 3.1 pulley would net me some nice gains.

My tune will be very good. I have a great tuner in my local CGP chapter who will make sure i get the most out of my car.

i want a be non-intercooled because i dont want to have to worry about a pump dying on me on a WOT run and my car going boom. i also think the car just runs better and makes more boost without it.
