I'd like to start doing things to my engine, starting by buying an aeroforce interceptor for it, but I want to be absolutely sure the pistons are OK before I start spending any money. I believe a compression check won't see small chips, so I really want to physically look at the pistons. So, anybody know how to look in there?

I thought about a borescope, but don't know where I would find one. I saw one at harbour freight, but the head is too large to fit through the spark plug hole.

Ask a friend that works at a dealership or other large garage. They usually have one.

I'd like to have a borescope, if you can find a link. I think I'm going to go with the aeroforce for now, though. If I have any chipped pistons, they'll have sharp edges which would have to generate some knock. I could see the knock with the aeroforce, and check into it at that point, if need be. If there's no more than normal knock, I should be fine. I'd still like to have a borescope, though.

Pull the heads and take a look... It's not that hard and you can redo your gaskets at the same time so you won't have to worry about them again for a while.

Got the link? I'd love to have something like that. I searched for "borescope" and got a message saying nothing matched.
