well my car as of now is basicaly stock but im looking to start spending money building up my engine now i no the supercharger can make some nice power but it seems to take alot more mods then just a turbo kit for around the same price i know ill still need a better tranny for my set up but im not too sure anyone do the switch to turbo and would it be better just to go turbo and will be cheaper to perform better or just stay with the supercharger and go from there thanks

Turbo is a lot of money all at once, if you stay supercharged you can do smaller stuff more often. But if I had it to do over again I would probably opt for turbo right outta the gate. If you go turbo your gonna need about $6k before you touch the car. 3k trans cause yours will blow very shortly after you get a turbo so might as well do it at the same time, then 3k for a good used turbo setup.

With te supercharger u will be robbing some power from the motor even when driving normally. If u go turbo ull have lots of power and better gas milege then going with a supercharger plus IMO switching the top half of the motor seems like a pain in the ass.

i hate hearing people say that turbo is better for mpg cause the SC take power to spin at idle.

1st with the BBV open its not using barely anything. its like wanting an AC delete.

2nd the turbo does take power from the engine to spin at idle. it is causing a restriction in the exhaust that the piston has to fight to push the gasses out.

3rd most who will do a turbo setup are not concerned with mpg. you will be needing bigger injectors to spray more fuel when going turbo.

sorry for rant just needed to ::Blaa::

Just because you go bigger injectors does not mean your fuel mileage will suffer under normal driving. I know plenty of modded guys with bigger turbos that still get 25+ mpg.

no matter were you go, or who you talk to about anything were will always be people who agree and disagree, and it just opinion based. now for me i wouldn't have known the difference in mps's unless i had tried both set-ups on the same car. but on car tuning website they have poeple giving feed back that have gone from s/c to turbo and they noticed their mpg's were better. its just IMO

i think i took this all out of context... the OP question is on which way to go and he has the money. for the power level he wants a turbo will be more efficient then a M90. for the power level the M90 is way out of its sweet spot compared to the turbos people are using. my rant is about people underestimating the efficiency of using the m90 they way it was designed

I still think the MPG question is silly when making a setup of this level. granted no one wants a 5mpg DD.

joshv one question though, what were your mods with the SC before you went Turbo?

i had a turbo before it wasnt a l67 or anything like that is was nissan 300zx twin and it got awful gas mileage and had so much lag i ended up getting 2 new turbonetic raptor turbos to replace with and before that i blew it up lol i ended up losing around 2 grand on the whole thing but i have heard that my gas mileage will only be effected by around 2 to 4 mpgs then stock and thats still with running bigger injectors i dont know im just going with it i guess plus i can always lower the boost to make it more streetable

250 shot. Do it and don't look back.

I toyed with the idea of a turbo set up, but I'm going for 12's so by the time I spend the coin for the turbo kit I can just hog out the sc and lim, pulley down, up the timing, abuse meth injection and throw on some slicks.
