Did you torque your lim down and put lock tite on the bolts?
short answer no, live and learn.
its my first car and while im pretty mechanically inclined, ive never been inside a motor besides a lawn mower. didnt really think about sealing the threads and as for the torque wrench, i rented one but didnt have the right piece to go from 1/2in to 3/8 so i ended up not using it. i have a family friend thats a GM mechanic, hes gonna help me the next time around :th_doh: Autozone steped up and said the guy that sold me the gaskets should have gave me thread slealer with it, and said they would replace the gaskets for free.
could someone please direct me to a good lim gasket thread with pictures, i used the lim and lifters in 30min video the first time around but id like to have somthing with pics i could print off.
Thanks.
Seriously try the stock intake first.
It silences this noise which is most commonly associated with a cold air intake.
Have you tried letting the car warm up to see if it goes away at idle?
i drove it about 3 miles to orielly and back and it was still doing it
Put RTV in the corners were the end caps meet the main gasket?
yes, next time im gonna use more because it evidently wasnt enough
so after letting it warm up the intake noise is gone but while test driving it i lost all power to the wheels(like it was in neutral) but it was in drive. i pulled over shut the car off turned back on and everything was fine, it did it again about a half a block later and same result.
Any Ideas? this car is really starting to pi** me off
1st 2nd and reverse same thing.
still not throwing any codes except the air intake temp (dont have the o2 sensor hooked up yet) could that have somthing to do with it?
if your getting movement out of the car for a little bit after its started up, and then acting like its in neutral thats pointing towards a clogged trans. filter possibly a failing transmission. Mine did the same thing I'd get about a mile to two miles out of it, and it'd quit movement in all gears like it was in neutral. Shut it off for a few minute, restart and get another couple miles out of it before it quit again. Its the debris from the clutches, and stuff in the trans clogging the filter.
When it cools, open the radiator and add coolant. I have fears you are overheating the motor. Your coolant sensor may not show it because you don't have any coolant to register temp on the sensor.
coolent is full
Bill has a good point, if you blew a head gasket from overheating, you may be have a problem with power when the car warms up.............and you'd be loosing coolant also.
im not leaking coolant, temps have been fine and i didnt have any power loss just a weird noise from the intake, goes away after it runs for like 7-8min
there not a loss in power engine wise, its just like someone keeps putting the car in neutral.
maybe that little whine we hear is the trans pump on its way to a slow death?
did the whine ever go away? if not is it all the time and louder as you go faster, with the rpm's? is it whining when it wont move when in gear?
the high pitched whine in the video is the power steering i can tell because its worse when i turn, the loud vaccum like sound does get louder if you rev it while its cold but after its warm it goes away completely. im gonna try changing the filter and tranny fluid and see what happens
