i just thought id share my experience with you guys. Recently as some of you know my Engine in my 03 gtp decided to crawl into a hole and die last friday I orderd a junk yard short block which ill be adding to my mods listas it arrived today lol. I am currently in college for the Motive power technician program so ive decided to document my experience in removing and replacing my engine and I will be sharing that information with you guys. Im hoping it will be helpful to anyone in the future that has to do this. I have been taking pics and vids along the way to help with the visuals. id like to thank everyone aswell on here that has helped me troubleshoot up to this point.

Im hoping to have my GTP back on the road for friday or monday latest and the Document on the procedure done for wed. any tips and suggestions are welcome along the way

    Thanks Guys

A cam install video, as well as some "dont do this" type stuff would be nice.

    Commonly I see:

improper harmonic balancer installs (key missing, jammed into timing gear, etc).

no cam sensor magnet transfered over.

not enough RTV on intercooler installs.

how to replace a motor without a cradle drop (save yourself a $50 alignment, whoo)

Kyle..try to skip the issues Dark mentioned. Those are the, didn't pay attention type of things.

Other tips would be to remove the ps pump and ac compressor from the brackets/engine and lay them in the engine bay so you don't have to drain them and reinstall etc. There's room if you keep an eye on them.

Also..don't need to remove the hood. Just undo the lift support clips and then use a broomstick or something to prop it just slightly higher and you'll never have to fight hood alignment.

Leave the wiring harness/pcm/batter in the car. They don't need to move. Why do extra work?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    This.

Also when putting in the new motor and taking it out. Take your jack and stick a small piece of 2x4 on it and jack up differential (passenger side) of the transmission. This will help a lot in getting it out and help more in getting the motor to line up with the with the bell housing of the trans/motor. You will probably need to adjust the jack to keep it level with the sub frame. Just makes life a little easier.

On that jack.. you def need that. The trans on the wussy body cars don't have any support like their huge body brotheren. If you don't help support the diff of the trans, you'll have the trans pulling down and it's not fun. As well as you probably hurt a cv boot in the process.
