Thread: Coolant Leak, But Where??

Alritey, so I found a tiny puddle of coolant under the car when I returned from KCGP. I had suspicions of a leak all along, but this confirmed it. So I got to looking around and didn't find much. Did a pressure test (up to 16psi) and it looses 1 psi in about a minute or so and slowly goes down from there. Then it started leaking quite a bit, elbows looked fine and dry, hoses look fine, but it was leaking somewhere near the top of the power steering pump and then it was running down and going right on top of the lower engine mount.

Got to peaking around some more, and there was a slight puddle behind the water pump and sort of under the corner of the LIM. The LIM gaskets were done 7k miles ago and it doesn't appear that they are leaking. What appears to be leaking is some sort of seal. I was thinking water pump but I got to looking and the water pump is further out. It's like the water pump housing or something??

But anyways, I have better pics on my camera, I'm trying to get it to the computer. But for now iPhone pics will do:

Notice the wetness all around that seal there behind the water pump housing area. I know the pics suck but bare with me.

What do you guys think?

take off the alt bracket and see if its cracked maybe or the hoses or elbow parts are leaking.

the bracket is off in this pic. elbows didn't look to be leaking. and i'll check for cracks.

but when i had it under pressure just looking at that little puddle, you could see that something was dripping in it, but you couldn't see where.

EDIT: I don't see any cracks or wetness on the bracket. The coolant seems to only be coming from behind the pump area, like some sort of seal there...

my guess is the water pump gasket.


can't be the heads because it wouldnt be gathering where it is.
