I've done what's mentioned in the article before on 2 vehicles. I never had any "burst" KR afterwards. Not to say someone else hasn't experienced it though.
Two things....1st: check your s/c belt and make sure its tight and not slipping. 2nd: Have a buddy hold up the bbv lever and you give it some gas and watch the boost. If it goes all the way up, your bbv is sticking, either replace it or spray some PB blaster on the lever and work it in and see if it frees it up.
Alright. Had my buddy hold the lever down while i gave it gas i got 6 or 7 psi i didnt have any pb blaster so i just used some wd40 and worked it in that did nothing so im pretty sure thats saying i need a new one... Do u think thats just showing im gettin 3psi and im getting the full 6 or 7 or if its reading 3 im getting 3? The reason i ask is bc i hit the throttle from under the hood and watched the lever and it went all the way down to where we were holding it open the first time
