Re: Engine conversion kit
i was trying to be nice:D
that's all fixable tho, its just going to take some time and patients. it does look like who ever did it was not knowing what they were doing and were in way over their head.
look at this way, by the time you are done you will be the best wire solderer on the boards here lol
Re: Engine conversion kit
Damn wtf is up with all that oxidization on the blower and alternator?

It happens when the car sits. It can easily be wiped off though.
Re: Engine conversion kit
Huh I've just never seen one that bad.
Re: Engine conversion kit
I clean mine everytime I pull it out of storage. If it builds up too much, it takes some time with a wire brush.
Re: Engine conversion kit
Just wondering if anyone else had any opinions on the photos of the wiring situation in the engine bay that I posted in the middle of Page 2 of this thread.
Re: Engine conversion kit
take some closer pictures of what the wires are going to,.
Re: Engine conversion kit
I'm pretty sure its the ECU mounted under the airbox. What I don't know is if it's the original with the car or the one that came with the new engine. What would posess someone to do the splicing like that. I wish I knew what the point of it was.
Re: Engine conversion kit
Hey Bill. John here. Was curious if you had a chance to check my pics I posted in the middle of page 2 of this thread.
Re: Engine conversion kit
I'd say it looks like they disconnected the old map and maybe reran new wiring. Definately needs a bit of polishing to get it where it should be. I'm going to go check out the codes and do a little more looking. We should set something up to get that finished up.
For what it's worth, that electrical isn't bad to fix up. ;)
Re: Engine conversion kit
Man, you just made my day. Thank you!!! This has been a very stressful situation for me. Yeah, we can definitely set somethin up. Let me know when and what you're thinkin when you get to that point. I'm flexible. It's whats convenient for you. I work all week so a weekend day would be best for me but no problem if not. I'm 3 hrs away from you. I am very punctual so you pick a time I will do my best to be there.
Re: Engine conversion kit
Anyone notice the thing that looks similiar to an EGR valve sitting almost behind to the elft of the EGR valve?
Unless maybe the car has california emisions im not sure what that is.
Never seen that on my supercharged grand prix.
It might even be easier to get a new engine harness on ebay from say morad, they are usually year specific unless you want to modify.
Not that bad to change out either, I just replaced the engine in jkine and the harness was quite easy to reinstall.
Re: Engine conversion kit
I think it'll be an easy fix w/o swapping the harness.
Codes:
P0053 is an O2 related code
P0068 http://gearchatter.com/viewtopic1072...9699f7644bf005
TP related
P0089 Inj ?
P0107 Map http://gearchatter.com/viewtopic1176...9699f7644bf005
P0243 Boost Control Soleniod
P0443 Evap purge valve http://gearchatter.com/viewtopic1172...9699f7644bf005
P02228 Map related
Looks like there's a few things to look over for sure.
Re: Engine conversion kit
Easy huh? lol. you're the first person to say that. I'm hoping you're right. I would love to drive and enjoy the car. No one around here seems to know what to do without reversing the whole wiring and ecu mess
Re: Engine conversion kit
Unfortunately this is beyond my knowledge. Sucks to be helpless. Hard to find people that know what they are doing and/or talking about.

thats what clean aluminum does.
Most engine bays are covered in dirt so they dont oxidize as much, simply get dirty instead.
Re: Engine conversion kit
What about the motor? Would you need to know what it came out of and what year? I don't know if it was a rebuild or not.

He has secondary air on the intake box so its possible.
OP, wouldnt worry about it.
Fix electrical.
Find out if PCM is correct.
Enjoy car.
Re: Engine conversion kit
Well Matt, if the car was top swapped, I'd be a little concerned running stock mani's on an L26 w/ a GenV. If it was a stock L32, not so much. And no scan gauges.... dunno.
Re: Engine conversion kit
The only way to tell if the PCM is correct is to scan.
If it needs adjustment, then via a tuner.
Thus the tuner will know if he should be concerned with flow.
Its more important to have the electronics functional first.
Then sort out tune as previously mentioned.
THEN we can talk headers.
