Thread: Ebay Headers

Has anyone ever tried the ebay headers? They have a website, I believe it is ssautochrome.com. It is 299 for the headers. I may give them a shot and see how well they fit.

Had the prototype set for almost 3yrs/~40k now, only have minor complaints. Performance-wise: they're great, can't ask for anything more than what I saw for dyno testing (24.7whp gain back when I only had just under 260whp with mani's & Gen3/3.3"/XP

Issues that can be taken care of before install... add a $40 ZZP 3" flex, and get them ceramic coated beforehand, if available. Otherwise you need to keep up on engine bay detailing with a stainless cleaner, or that sexy gold gets hidden by some crud over time, and takes alot of work to clean off. (don't know why they say 1-3/4" primary and mild steel... these are identical dimensions to SLP's and made of 321 stainless, a version of 304... Zoomer & I both confirmed this with magnet testing)

I, personally, had no issues with welds, but others have. As with any header, check them over before install to make sure they're ready to go. Buy the good Torca AccuSeal clamps, and use copper RTV in the slip-joints if you're worried about leaking there. The same care & attention to detail needs to be taken with all header installs, in various ways.

I give them 3.5 out of 5 torque-stars, especially with the new v-band downpipe split, making install much easier than the old versions & SLP's. Lack of coating, clamps, and 10-15k mile flex are the reasons for this grade. Silver Ceramic TOG's are probably 4-4.5 in my book, with original coated SLP's and regular coated TOG's at ~4. Pacesetters and S&S's are down in the SSAC territory, due to various drawbacks they each have as well, including mild steel construction, with coated versions around 3.5-4.

My opinion based on many installs and witnessing of performance numbers afterwards. All headers will give a similar performance gain, so it's the other aspects that' you're choosing between, including price obviously.

So I emailed this company about how well the fitment is on these so called "Ebay headers" and this is how they replied.


"Hi, no this is not a bolt on application it will more than likely need to do mods on your current setup. its 250.00 shipped."

Are we talking about the same Ebay headers here? By the way you are talking, the headers bolted right up....

I think that I am going to buy me a set and see how it goes. Im not really to concearned about the show quality look it is just my Daily beater. I just wanted to make sure they were a close fit. Can't beat 250 shipped. FNA!! Will I need anything else with these other than the clamps? Like gaskets and where do I get them from?

Stock flange gaskets are good forever, had mine apart about 10-15 times over the years... I have no clue why people go to FelPro's, since those require replacement everytime, from then on.

You'll just need the O2 harness extension (ZZP or custom), a cat-back gasket (vendor or parts store), and the typical items for this type of work (copper RTV for slip-fits, anti-sieze for O2 threads).

Best thing to do is wipe them clean after install, to get the majority of the hand-grime off before your initial install. They turn gold as soon as the car starts, beginning at the flange & moving down the pipes after a minute or two. Maybe take a vid, just for something fun to re-watch.

^^^Where did you get them that cheap from?

They were originally on ebay for $189+shp a year or so back.

(I paid $175 shipped for the original set, plus we split half of the dyno testing cost... so basically I paid for the manifold runs, and they paid for the header ones back then.)
