Ever since my cam install, I've been having a strange issue. Sometimes at idle, my car's RPM will drop to about 600, my dash lights will dim, my blower fan will reduce in speed, and my car stutters. The AFR also goes lean. I have had it stall out a few times, but most of the time it recovers back to normal in a few seconds. I don't know what's going on.

it sounds like the alternator is not able to put out a full charge when the idle drops, if you have a volt gauge, test it. it should read over 13 volts, but not higher than 14. maybe bump up the idle a little more. i dont know if the alt pulley is changeable to a smaller pulley or not but a smaller pulley would speed up the alt for sure.

Ah yes, mine does that too. But I don't think I'm getting the dim lights tough. I've just noticed my AFR going lean too. I haven't really looked into why is it though.

The battery reads 14.7 volts while running. I'm going to try taking off my alternator voltage booster.

Now it's just under 14.5 volts.

some time ago i had my alternator go bad in my 03 gmc truck, and when i got a new one it was charging at 14.4 volts and the truck just didn't run right, and the battery light was still on. so you may be over charging you system and the computes don't like the extra voltage maybe. that's what i figured was wrong with my truck,

i returned the alt and replaced it again and it was running right again and the battery light went off. this one charged at 13.6.

since you cammed, your rpm is likely fluctuating a bit more at idle in gear. Anytime the rpm dips under 600 the pcm turns off the field to the alt. Which means .. it turns it off for a moment.

Try raising your in gear rpm by 100 and see if that cures the issue.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Okay. I will try that. I also noticed during these surges, my IAC number is extremely high (mid 250's I think). It's a brand new IAC valve.

I started the car up after school, and started driving, and it was acting te same way it does when I turn sharply. It wanted to stall out. My LTFT's went extremely negative, and my car went very lean. I had to press the throttle about 50% of the way down to move the RPM. It wasn't responding to it at all. As soon as I let off, it stalled out. It's strange my car only has these symptoms when cold. 2 minutes after it's warmed up, it's fine. I'm wondering if it's any tuning tables relating to ECT (spark, AFR correction etc). My idle on cold starts is already like 1000 RPM. That should be more than fine for a VS cam.
