So I decided I would go out for a cruise since I was bored. While I was cruising down the highway, I felt like doing a WOT run. So it got to about 5000rpm and then it got really loud. So I just kept coasting until I had to hit the gas again and WOW, its LOUD. My car now has a full body massager built in.

So I went under the car and had a look and the pipe right after the u-bend disconnected from the other one. Heres a pic I found on the internet so you can see where I mean. Ignore the second picture.

Heres what it sounds like lol: YouTube - ‪Exhaust leak lol‬‏

Any ideas on how much this would cost to fix?
I'm thinking this might be the perfect excuse to do the u bend delete.

Depending on how you fix it:

You can just have an exhaust shop weld in a straight pipe with o2 bung, no flanges, would cost at most $75

You could have them weld pipe to the cat, then make a new flange for the one that blew out on you, that might cost alittle more.

No, they should be able to weld a new piece of pipe right to the cat.

You will be able to finally do some mods without the u-bend! It's the most restrictive part of the stock system.

so i went to two shops, one quoted me 200 and the other one wanted 250. and they both said i couldnt weld a pipe in place of the ubend cuz the o2 sensor would get destroyed and the pipe wouldnt fit properly on the cat?

I dont want to spend 200 to fix this problem.
    any suggestions?

Try more shops. Because tons and tons do it. No one bends a U to put back in place.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

You remove the o2 from the u-bend.

Then they cut it and the cat out...because a converter is lamesauce.

Then they weld a piece of straight pipe in there in place of them.

Then they weld a universal bung to the side of it.

    Re-install o2 sensor.

    Done.

If it costs more than $50...your getting hosed.

If the pipe didnt disconnect from the flange, your bolts could have just rusted. i.e. 3$ fix for 2 new bolts. but Its still not a bad idea to get the ubend replaced.

Dont go to fix-it places like Meineke, (ext, ext...) they will charge u a f**k load to do this and the will tell u bs like thats not the "right way" to do things. Just go to a local exhaust guy that is down to earth and i garentee he will do it.
