what is the advantage of upgrading to an 8rib pulley setup?

and when do i do it? is there a certain point in modding where it is needed?

Do it because you have belt slip, not as a preventative measure. If you don't have belt slip, don't worry about it. The additional weight over a 6-rib will (theoretically) get you slightly worse gas mileage, although if you got them done in billet aluminum, it might be about the same as the stocks.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

    H body + 8 rib + belt wrap= no belt slip ever.

Or just run with it till you have an issue.
