Question for people who are full size intercooled. What did you guys use to cut the piece of the bumper frame off to fit the FMHE?

    Will a dremel be enough?

I tossed in a big ole FMHE onto FourSixer's car last night and didn't need to cut.

i used a sawsall, the dremel will work. get the reinforced disks though. and make sure you paint the cuts to prevent rust.

Bill on some of the FMHE, wbodystore is the one i have, you mount it to the bumper bar. this causes it hang too low and you cant put the air dim back on. so you have to cut the bottom half of the bumper bar and trim some of the plastic on the air dim.

my WBS core is in there.

Hangs down (which i dont like) but all i had to do was drill a small hole in the latch support and it bolted right up.

Also cut the ducting to fit around the FHME.

There was no hood latch support there.

I mounted mine under the support. Having kids in my car I wasnt going to risk saftey in a frontal collision by weaking the support. my FMHE is a
    Stage 2 core dimensions: 23" wide x 7" height x 3 1/2" thick
Just my two cents. heres how mine hangs

Still have the latch here. Just the bottom of it is removed. Many locals have done this to make room for the core.

mine is that same size one 01 and it was that low for 3 days before i moved it up, im lowered so it was close to the ground and would be the first thing to get hit if something small was in the road and was unavoidable.

You're also going to want to use a sawzall or a die grinder, for cutting the support. A dremel will take a year of sundays lol.

Hope he doesn't mind, but I stole these pics off a local car club friends facebook Shawn Larsen. And here's how he did his and how I will be doing mine... Makes it so you can put the plastic piece back on the bottom to help channel the air and just make it look cleaner. Plus me being so low will help keep it off of curbs a bit when I forget what the hell I'm driving...lol If I ever get around to ordering my fmhe and pump that is...

And just get an angle grinder with the a 4" cutting wheel. Should take all of 2 minutes to cut that piece out.

LOL He's a really great guy, you need to come up here to one of our meets and meet everyone. We are doing one saturday at 6pm, got 4 of us for sure coming, but you probably already know from the FB club page. Thats how I remembered the pics cause me and him were talking about it and what he did to mount it and junk. I have a S2 core but been dragging my feet on getting the FMHE and pump... Kinda debating between keeping the charge cooled with the IC, and keeping myself cool with the AC. I've been leaning towards fixing the AC so the IC will have to wait a bit longer.

No you in no way shape or form have to cut it and most don't... It just hangs a bit lower and you can't get that plastic air dam piece back on is why people cut them to begin with. If you don't mind it hanging a bit low and leaving that piece off just bolt her up.
