Got about 1200 miles on my new tranny rebuild, and motor rebuild now. Finally gave it a wide open run the other day to see what it felt like, it feels just as quick until 90 but as soon as the car hits 3rd gear now it feels like it has nothing more to give, takes forever to get up to 120, and no matter how long you hold it down it wont get up past 124, the limiter is 126 from runs before the rebuild. i am pulling a p0724 (tcc stuck on) code, and im running 18" rims and 225/50/18 pirellis. would the oversized tires and rims, and the tcc lockup make it this much slower? Im at a loss, and after $4000 it kind of sucks going slower than before the rebuild. any ideas as to what the issue could be

youre not supposed to go that fast anyways.

and a transmission doesnt make you slower unless parts are broken.

disreguarding the fact that your "not suppose to" so that fast when an 08 impala ss rolls up on the highway most people are going to run it. but back to the issue, so the tcc isnt going to change the power output if its unlocked or locked up during hard acceleration? im not a trans. person by any means but in theory with the motor being bored over, it should make more power considering the supercharger works off displacement, and it pulls the same through 1st and 2nd it leaves the trans. as the most likely cause, so the question i guess is the tcc lockup shouldnt affect acceleration wether its locked or not

I wouldnt waste gas on a 08 SS. Thats just me. But back to the topic. A TCC stuck on will cause posible stalling and poor low end acceleration, Harsh shifts, P0742

thats how it should be yes.. the p0724 code (tcc circut stuck on) is locking the torque converter up to early. it locks up as soon as it goes into 2nd gear and stays locked up unlesss you ride the brakes to release it. the trans guy has to fix the issue this coming weekend. it shouldnt be locked under wide open throttle but it is staying locked. is this gonna take away that much power

    Change the solenoid then.

Impala SS' would pull on a stock-ish GTP anyways on the highway...TCC lockup or not...V8 bruh.

only reason i ran it was because it was a friend. just for fun. so the lockup shouldnt affect top end power? it runs great off the line until 90, as soon as it hits 3rd thats when it feels like its got nothing.

maybe you have alot of KR, 3rd gear is a high load situation where a bad tune will rear its ugly head

didnt think about that, ill have to grab the scanner and read it out. so you dont think the bigger rims and tires would cause it? i didnt think so but i was looking for all the possible situations

Any mods besides rims? Intake, Pulley, PCM, or exhaust?

Stock cars can have pretty decent amounts of knock like Aaron said...
