My 98 Regal GS has just popped some lights on. The Service "Vehicle" Soon NOT the Service Engine Soon, the ABS and Trac Off lights are all on. What the heck is going on? Thanks for the help.

I thought SVS and SES were the same thing?

ABS and TRAC lights are probably meaning you got a bad wheel bearing/hub assembly...or the sensor just went bad in one of them...but you have to buy the entire assembly.

I have found some cars do all that when the alt is low on voltage. Not quite enough to trigger the battery/alt light. Can't hurt to check the charging system.

service vehicle soon usually comes on for body control/abs faults or low level codes
Service engine soon is usually on for engine/transmission codes

Exactly Kevins. Will a scanner read the ABS codes just like the DTC's? I have a scanner to scan engine codes. Wifey is at work in the car so I can't try it right now. Do you need a special scanner to scan ABS codes? Thanks

Funny how many unrelated things can cause wheel speed codes. I chased wheel speed codes for a month on my vette only to find out it was the stainless steel braided brake hoses!

Im not smart enough to explain it! Something about the lines generating static electricity.. I had alot of help on that one. I thought it was BS untill i swtched to a diff brand and sure enough all wheel speed codes were gone.

not the roads. It's a poor quality hub assembly. I had to replace both of mine under 75K miles.

I recently replaced the struts on my car, didn't get the right rear ABS sensor plugged in all the way and it threw the same codes once it wiggled out. Have you done any work to your car lately?

I just did the Lower Intake Manifold gaskets but nothing near the hubs. Listen to this weird thing my car did today. When I first start the car all of the lights are OFF. As I drive it the "Low Trac" flickers for a while. While it's flickering the car kinda pulls to the right side as if the right front brake is being applied. After about 5 times the 3 lights (ABS, Service Vehicle Soon, Trac Off) will come on the dash and the pulling stops and the car acts normal from there on. Any ideas? Thanks

That's pretty much the sequence my car went through also. I noticed too the power steering seems to not be working as strong as normal. This could be best solved by starting with checking the codes and running them down one by one. If you don't have a code reader, you should get one, go by a parts store and have them check it. Several of them around me do this for free, hoping to sell you something as a result.

Fixed the problem finally!!!! I found the wire harness/ plug that goes to the right side front wheel just hanging. It had come loose from the little metal clip that holds it to the lower A-arm. I guess it was just jumping around down there and fooling the ABS into thinking that tire was spinning. All I did was reattach the harness to the a-arm by pushing the metal clip back on. Easy fix that was causing major headaches.

cool, you found a free repair, lol love them.

i have a 98 regal too, and when i bought mine every light was lit up, my dash looked like a x-mass tree lol very annoying to have lights on all over the dash. im down to a air bag light that still needs to be fixed.
