Re: Won't start after cam install
i am SO thrilled to see that damn thing running.
as far as clunking, yes i'd be willing to say an axle is bad. when my flex plate was changed, of course the axle was removed to lower the frame, and when the axle was disturbed, it went to chit. so since you disturbed it, i'd be willing to say it's bad. but that's just on personal experience.
best of luck, and please enjoy that damn thing.
Re: Won't start after cam install
Ya replace that axle. THat grease is from your CV Joint.

Yea I will. I'm just hoping that could cause something like this. I've had a CV joints go bad before, but it didn't act like this. When it made the sound and jerked, my scanner read knock, which I thought was strange. I didn't accelerate over 2500 RPM.
Re: Won't start after cam install
yeah, i had bad axles at one time. with both of them bad, the car would shake left to right like it only had 1 lug nut or something.
and i replaced one, and it cured half of it. and i had to pass someone on a highway and yeah. that was a pretty bad shake. but i've never experienced the clicking or clunking noise typical of axles.
but then again, my GP has atypical issues when it gets them.
Re: Won't start after cam install
a cv joint wouldn't affect anyting when the car is in park, check for vac leaks if you haven't solved that problem yet

This happened when I took it for a drive. Everything seems fine in park.
Re: Won't start after cam install
carry on then sir lol. i didn't read anything, but seeing as how you're on page 21 i'm assuming it's been a rough time. glad you finally got it running
Re: Won't start after cam install
The idle will hunt badly every 10 seconds or so. It will go as high as 900 sometimes, then drop low to like 600, and almost die. My AFR is all over the place. Every few seconds I get what sounds like an exhaust note pulse/pop, which causes my AFR to spike lean and my MAP to shoot up from 18 inHg to like 8 inHg. My fuel trims at idle right now are about +2. Here's the sound I am getting out of my exhaust:

It's not showing any. Weird. But I did notice that cylinder 1's spark plug has cracked porcelain. That's probably it.

oh goody, yet another simple error fix. lol
Re: Won't start after cam install
Got the plugs changed. Running smooth at idle now! AFR stays between 14.9-15.5. RPM stays constant. Boost gauge doesn't jump around anymore. Yay. I was gonna change the axle tonight but I dont have a 36 mm socket, only a 34 mm for the new one. Boo. :(
Re: Won't start after cam install
i ran into that problem. ended up spraying wd-40 into where the axle goes into the transmission, and the squeak went away. who knew? sent it back to rock auto lol.

This is way more than a squeak. Lol.
Re: Won't start after cam install
i'm assuming so lol. i just got really annoyed that i made the 14 mile round trip to autozone to get the 34mm to get back home and realize i needed a 36mm as well. no emoticon can express my level of confusion, annoyance, and pissed-off-ed-ness

Yup. Old nut is 36mm, new one is 34mm. I don't like that system.
Re: Won't start after cam install
they should have a kit that includes 30, 32, 34, 36.
Re: Won't start after cam install
^^I hate that...which is why I bought all 4 sockets.
lulz
