i have a 2004 pontiac grand prix gtp that recently had a pcm that crapped on me i have hp tuners and i found a couple pretty close that i hope i would be able to use. i was informed that i would be able to use a gt pcm so any assitance would be helpfull not only to me but others along the way. what would be the best process of doin this?

Should work fine. I flashed 05GTP PCM info into my 04 n/a after swapping the 05 S/C engine, trans, cradle and all into my 04 n/a car. I used my 04 PCM (keep the same VIN) and flashed the new engine info. Worked like a charm. No prob. I have a DHP not a HP Tuner. I am new to Tuning but if you need anything give me a shout.

i have heard that some "bricked" pcms can come back to life! after being out of the car for a month or so some people have been able to get them to work again. prob something with the power being completely drained and allowing a good reboot of it... just an FYI not to just toss your old PCM let it get some dust on it and give it a try down the road. and or down the road get or build an off board. sometimes you can flash a pcm on an off board that wouldnt work while in the car because of other bus traffic going on.

ok heres my deal with with this i found out that my pcm was not sealed and it leaked water and corroded some diods or what ever it has in it and i have to get another one i just had my trans replaced an now i have to get another pcm so i can once again drive my car. thats my whole reason of asking this question. so now i have to experiment with it and see what i can do. tomarrow when i get back im going to plug it up to the car write a calibration with hp tuners and go from there maybe reconnect vats and see where i go from there. i have a good tune saved already just not 100% sure about the trans tune but i guess ill play with it and see what works for me i have ahd alot of help and advice from some awsome ppl but i have to learn this by my self or i will never learn it. and if it has been off the car for months could i go to the dealer and have them flash it for me to "bring it back to life" or should i be able to do this with just hp tuners?

deff just use your tuner no reason to pay the dealer to try it when you can do it for free. for what they would charge you might be able to find another pcm at a junkyard!

well i found out that a "write enitre" is required to be able to use the pcm from a different type of grand prix. its working good and i have had no problems. so just to recap. on the menu bar go to flash click write entire wait about 5 minutes and start it up.
