You don't have to remove the valve covers to do the lim gasket but if you want to do 1.9's then do it I'm still on stock springs but I would recommend replacing with some 90#'s

90# springs are hard on the dampener. If your only wanting to do rockers get and get L76 springs. Port the blower while it's off. Headers will be nice also.

Whats the worst case scenario on stock springs? Im tryin to get it goin for a minimum amount of cash. Does anyone sell a lim kit autozone and advance dont even sell the blower gasket. Im definatley doin the headers and straight piping the exhaust since it needs exhaust work anyway with the rockers and ported supercharger can i run a smaller pulley? Will a canned tune pcm be fine?

worse case it breaks a spring. I've been fine on mine for about 30ish K miles. It's called the upper plenum gasket. With rockers & headers i'm running a 3.4 on a canned tune.

Its called a upper plenum on a s/c motor? I might just run stock springs then if i got 30k out of this i would be estatic how many miles on yours?

    Springs are encouraged.

Let me rephrase what has already been said. You can break a valve spring, which can either bend the valve, or drop it into the chamber where it will get bent and broken up, while doing significant damage to the piston and head. You're lucky if you don't have to replace the motor after this.

    2005 F350 6.0 - studded, deleted, tuned
    2001 GTP - cam, headers, nitrous, stock trans - 11.83 @ 116 <$2k in mods - sold

You decided to tear motor apart without the stuff you need or want to put back in it? Without a plan...? No too smart!

Worst case scenario is your cheapening out on $25-30 worth of valve sprins will cost you a motor, plain and simple! The fact that you're asking if you need a tune tells another story, but anyway. No you don't... But you'll also be wasting the money you decide to put into the engine via mod's WITHOUT a tune! The tune will only maximize the benefit and whatnot of what you decide to add to the engine, drivetrain, etc.

My personal opinion is you get what you put into it...

    Cheap/Fast/Reliable

You can only have two of these three, so pick wisely!

Lim gasket, valve cover gaskets, coolant elbows, rockers sure, but do seals and retainer while there, port that blower and throttle body yourself, change plugs, wires, oil, tranny fluid and filter, shift kit, go open cone and then tune it... You'll love what ya get!

But the research you should have done already is too late, now you'll have to order things and wait... To do it right that is. Don't just get everything at local stores, there are better places like Rockauto that can have it to your door in no time. I get from them in 2 days regular shipping.

    Anyways... Good luck!
Overkill BBC Cam, YT 1.8 RR's, Rhodes Lifters, STGII Heads, GenV, Pacesetters, 3" Exh to Tips, TEP Trans. N*, ID 75# injectors/E85 coming soon

Adding some stuff was kind of a afterthought. And is subject to what kind of money i have to put into it. I dont think i asked if i needed a tune i was wondering with specified mods if a canned tune would work and to be honest despite it being a 3.8 modding a car with 230000 miles on it probably is not good for reliability anyway. I have a limited amount of time to work on this. So if i have to do a little at a time i gotta take advantage of the time i got i understand taking it apart and waiting to put it back together seems questionable but when i got time i got time. So i use it.

Cheaper on some items, they have multiple warehouses. Just a mail order parts store.

Somethings yea. You really need to go do some price comparing for yourself and figure out the best route.
