Hey guys I recently got a 2000 gtp. It was a demos car exept for the cam. I've put headers a built tranny 3.4" pulled and a warm air intake. Open cone. I need help finding outwhat cam I have. I plan on using a dial indicater soon for lift. All I know is at idle I pull 11 in of vacuum and with the 3.4 pulley I get 9 lbsof boost. The idle is a lil lopey butnot horrible.
Thanks guys. Sorry this was typed on my phone

knowing the car is on stock heads, it's more than likely an XP, S1X, or a VS. the most common out of those being an XP, so it'll probably be that.

11" sounds pretty weak for an XP.

Even an XPZ is supposed to pull 14.

    vac leak?

Ive replaced all the lines that looks rough and sprayed the entire engine bay with carb choke cleaner looking for a leak and found none. Now 11-12 is on my boost guage which is a cheap one. The aeroforce says im at like 14. Not 100% but it was not what the boost guage says
I know the boost guage needs a upgrade for sure. Just worring about everything else right now for dyno day

I have a VS cam with 3.25 pulley and the powrtuner says I'm making 6 lbs of boost and the sunpro gauge said 11. I'm not sure which one to believe. 6 sounds too low.

Stick to something more scientific, how many bars do you get in your DIC? hahaha.

here's a video of my car at idle:

thats why i want to know which one i have so I dont put the same cam in myself. I want to do a xp hot cam.
Yesturday my interceptor says im at 13.8-14.7in/hg at idle. It flucuates with the lopey idle. Im uploading a video to photobucket when i first put the headers on so its idleing with open headers. Now i never let the car warm up fully in the video cuz towards the end of the video i realized i never put my egr back on so thats the sound that sounds like a rod knock lol

even if it is an S1x or a VS, it will still perform just as well as an XP. why would you want to change it?

If you didn't have the EGR on...and you had open headers of course its gonna sound lopey...it has an exhaust leak before the o2 and was probably throwing off your fuel trims.

The egr was fixed 5 minutes right after the video so i have no leaks.
This weekend im going to just put a dial indicator on the push rod and the rocker arms and crank it over by hand. This should answer all my questions and should give me my lift pretty accurate.
    Thanks for helping anyways guys
Ill post up my numbers when i get them. The onl thing is i wont be able to do duration but the lift numbers alone should give me a idea.

Boost gauge is probably reading foot lbs. Having a Bonne with the ft lb gauge, 10-11 was very normal vacuum reading.

On an hg gauge though..you'll see 14-17 vacuum.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

okay guys i took the cam out last weekend while i was doing all the other mods. . it measured out to be the xp cam and i have confirmed it with zoomer also. Now that i figured that out i am curious on my springs. Looking down the ports with the intake off I do see casting marks so im not thinking i have ported heads which is fine. for now. But i need to know about the springs. To me they look like coiled up piano wire, Just big wire. But what about the diameter of the springs. Can people chime in on the actual wire diameter for stock and 90# and 105#. I assume that the wire is thicker with harder springs correct?
