I changed all the plugs in the car today. Went with Autolite Double Platinums

I had a misfire on #4 that resulted in an SES light. And the other day when I got the wastegate solenoid replaced, the mechanic said he saw 2 more misfires in #2 and #3.

When I took the old plugs out they all had a white film on them. #4 was the worst.(whitest)

I'm wondering what might be causing this and what I need to look for/fix.

Usually a little white is pretty normal. If there is a lot you might want to look into a possible coolant leak somewhere.

OK. Well, I replaced the elbows, but I think one didn't go in good. And I know It barely seeps coolant out at idle. And the temp needle will go above halfway, for a few minutes and then come back down.

Other than that everything seems good. It runs so much smoother with these new plugs though. Big difference.

I'd recommend the iridiums over the double plats, but I'd guess you haven't swapped to an aluminum lower intake manifold gasket yet?

    Hey Speedy,
I am the tech manager at Autolite. We have a video on our website on misfire diagnosis, here is a link-http://www.autolite.com/learn_more/autolite_challenge_videos.
You should be able to figure out what the cause is after you watch it. If I can help you with any troubleshooting instructions, let me know.

Yes I am. I am the manager of technical training at Honeywell Consumer Products Group, Fram, Prestone, Autolite and Holts. (all Honeywell) I also do technical work for Bendix and Garret (also Honeywell companies). I manage a group of four guys who write articles, teach auto mechanics, produce technical video and answer questions on web forums.

I understand, just a humble auto mechanic who gets paid to help people with their cars. I love my job. The videos on the autolite site have one real good module for DIS ignitions that would be helpful to you guys. We are also running a promo open to all of you right now, watch a video once a month and get a 25$ gift card after watching all three. autolitechallenge.com/pro

The solenoid and the bypass valve are 2 different parts.

I wanna say it was it cost me like $65ish with labor. The part was maybe $40. I let the guy at the shop do it because he did a rotate and balance for me as well. The complete total was like $89. I could have put it on, but I didn't mind giving him the business. Not sure where he got the part at though. Probably a dealer part?

It's not really called the wastegate solinoid...it's the Boost Bypass Solinoid.
