Just buy a complete kit from one of the known Nitrous Kit makers, will come with everything you need... As to what else you need to do to the car.. You are going to have to run colder plugs and pull timing when you spray... I would also invest in a good scanner and a wideband.

If you truly want to run nitrous safely then you wil want to add these to your kit:

RPM window switch
Lean cutoff switch
Purge
Bottle warmer

You can find used kits cheap. Around here they are in the $200-$300 range for a full kit.

You can use a TB spacer to tap for the nozzle. Or if you are running an external MAF you could place the nozzle after the MAF in the air intake.

Yup, agree.

I'd buy new if it were me. That way your getting new, and not abused/neglected parts and equipment.

The new kits will come with a window switch, and a low fuel pressure shut off. Purge is needed for the wet kits, though I use one on my dry for the coolness factor. Bottle warmer, eh...only "really" needed if your bracket racing IMO. I don't have one, nor ever needed one. On a full bottle, on a warm day 900 PSI is not a problem. On a hot day I have seen as high as 1200 PSI. The minimum amount you want to have is 800 PSI in the bottle.

Other things I added were a nitrous pressure gauge in my pillar pod, and a remote bottle opener as well as a flip open "arming" switch to turn on the system. I added a small green LED light next to the gauge in the pillar so when the system was on, green means go.

I also built my own D.P.N.I. plate. (direct port nitrous injection). Its a 1" billet aluminum plate that sits under my GenV and gives a nice even healthy shot into each intake runner of the head. Before that, I used a phenolic throttle body spacer, taped that, and sprayed there.

I keep around a 60-70 horse power shot, as I use it as a inter cooler more than a horse power gain. That's just a good side effect.

Plus its not cheating everyone has the same chance to get thier hand on Nitrous. Its just who wants to spend the money on it.

I agree. You could buy a full turbo kit and just put it on and get it tuned and it's not considered "Cheating"? Yeah it may cost more money but it's all power adders.


And back on topic, you are going to want to change your plugs to some colder plugs than what you already have.

Nitrous isn't cheating, but it's still a cheap way to win. Thus being called the "baby bottle".

Are you still on stock mani's? Didn't see that in your list of mods.

why would you want nitrous its not constaint power all the time and over time will cost more why not just get a 3.3 pully $50 tune i think gbp charges $50 headers like 220 for speed daddys cuz u already got a cam then later add like a ic and add more timing like 500-1000 so for like 820-1320 u can have a decnt car with no nos

zex wet kit $550 plus bottle refills $$$$$$$ not to mention it is illegal for street use

you can stick up for it all you want but its still cheap... i think its more bad ass to beat someone WITH spray without it... plus its way more dangerous even if done right....

Nitrous is not cheap to fill, keep that in mind. I have to drive 30 mins to get mine filled at $5 a pound.. and I am running 2 10lb tanks so $100 plus the gas to drive there. You are still going to need headers because you need a lot of timing. I don't think with the mods you have you will even be close to enough timing to safely run n2o.

I am not saying it a bad power adder, but you need to do it right and not get greedy. And no it is not legal for street use but who has to know you are running it.

Its legal to have nitrous in a street car, you can even have a filled bottle in your car on the street. You just can't have the bottle connected to the line that feeds the engine from what I have been told. But I have been pulled over...a lot, and never has the cop asked to see in the trunk if my bottle was hooked up or not. Usually it is anyway. I have even had my car inspected at the tag office by the Sheriff and they never said anything about the system.

So maybe it varies from state to state on what you can, and cannot do. Might ask some of the speed shops, or guys at the track, they would know. Or, feed you a good line of B.S. so take what they say with a grain of salt.

I don't use my N20 all the time, I very seldom used it at the track. Most days what its like out, is fine enough for my power band. Some days its hot enough where its not running like you want it to, so no matter how much tuning you do or how cold you can make your inter cooler on a hot day...the nitrous is handy to have, because it wont let you down on a day like that.

All motor on a bad tune, my 1/4 mile time is nice, but can be improved greatly. Now that we got the '97 PCM program issue fixed with the fueling tables. After I get to where I want to on a all motor pass, I'll squeeze a little juice in there, and start working on a nitrous tune for the track.

Its used on a need to basis for me. Its there when I want it.

I've heard all the "bottles are for babies" comments, and "nitrous is cheating" stuff, and its like anything else you can buy and put on your car. Its only cheating when your racing for dollars and you end up winning and you didn't tell the other driver what exactly you were running. Or something like that ya know.

EVERYONE has the same opportunity to buy it, and install it, some, if not many choose not to for many different reasons. Some like to boast that the 12 second pass they made was on all motor, or their car is all engine, etc. etc. Or, they just cant handle the negative comments about having a bottle from those who are scared to use or run the stuff in the first place.

Its not rocket science to install it, and use it. Just take all the safety steps needed to ensure you keep everything together under the hood. But sh!t does happen sometimes, so its best to always stay on top of your maintenance of your installment, and system to avoid it from hitting the fan.

I have the NOS Nitrous kit, their kit does take a lot of wiring and plumbing, but works the best from the research I did. Back when I bought my kit, I got it through Summit, the free bonus at the time was a bottle blanket. Oh, yea! The free bottle blanket they gave me is still in the package they sent me 10 years ago.


When it comes down to it, its your car, you do what you want to, and what you like. You wont please everyone with your overall car or installment of something or what ever you do, nitrous or a appearance mod. Your always going to have that one person out there who doesn't approve of something you did. **** em, and what they say, and move on with your life, and let them stay all negative and sh!t talking. Just makes them look like an ass anyway.
