There was a recent incident in which I most likely blew my #3 piston ClubGP Message Forum troubleshooting . So i have decided that the new block will either get an XP or an S1X. I am looking for feedback and dyno #'s/ track times from those of you with first hand experience. Thanks in Advance

What are the specs on the LL cam? where did you order it from? and how much was it?

not sure if the s1x can be used with stock heads but I have the xp and by just swapping the cam from a stock to an xp i can notice a big difference between the 2. Even with no tuning done yet i can tell a majior difference
The S1X is actually smaller than the XP...

the xp cam has proven to be the most powerfull on stock heads. Checkout the link to some dyno results.

Paul is working on changing that

I need to do a few more things to my car before he can really tune it I have tie rods bad and need tires and alignment then the tuning with start then we will hit the Dyno for some numbers

With a 3.0 pulley at the track full weight 3/4 tank of gas I was running 13.1@109.5 all night with 2.1+ 60' The tune is close to stock tune maybe 14 degrees of timing I know its not the the greatest but I need slicks to get it to hook

if i were to choose between those two, i would pick an xp. its a proven cam, but then again the s1x is too. but if i were to choose a cam out of everything, i wouldnt have stock heads..

thats the thing that sucks about the big cams that these vendors make. without raised shift points you really dont get as much as you can out of any of them. i mean, look at the xpz. it makes hella power way into the 6k range. no one shifts that high except for the people who run big valve springs or people that want to have no valvetrain left after a good run.

i wish someone made a cam that PEAKED power at like 5200. i want some low end man, i dont take my car to the track..ever.

Well im at 6400 right now with 105 springs and the xp cam. You could probably spin the motor up to that with stock springs but i can only imagine how much valve float you would have....is it hurting the motor in some way? probably so...shortining the life of the motor? probably so....

The 3800 is pretty sound to rev high. The bottom end is, at least. The valve train is what needs to be able to keep up. Plus having enough potential to feed/exhaust the cylinders at 6k+ RPM.

at what rpm does the supercharger start to become inefficent?? wouldent it be smart to have a cam that works around that??

Trannyman is right IMO. I can only tell you on a daily driver (no dyno or hard documention) the S1X even with 2.93 gearing felt more impressive than my current XP with 3.29 gears. Tuning is a big thing, and both of my setups were tuned by those that truely know tuning, so we can throw out that variable.

As far as how high to rev, look at the dynos and see where the peak HP is being made, just like Bio mentioned. IIRC the ones I've seen, have peaked before 6K. Going much above that is not going to help, unless when it shifts it's not dumping you high enough into the powerband. Even then I'm sure there is a balance between losing HP by revving too high and not dropping high enough into the RPM after the shift.

The PRJ LL cam looks real promising. Don't discount it out yet. Someone Paul just setup with this cam posted some results over on the big board...looked pretty good to me.
