Are the L76 springs a 90# spring but a 105 rate??
Another question was what retainers are needed for crow 105# springs? Do I need the modded ones for either l76 or crow 105's??

LS6:
crow 105:Installed load is 90 pounds at 1.800", 115 pounds at 1.720", and 300 pounds at 1.230".
source: intenseInstalled load is 105 pounds at 1.800", 127 pounds at 1.720", and 293 pounds at 1.200".
I'd venture to say the LS6's would have a higher spring rate.
you'll want to use LS1 style retainers for the proper install height.
You'll also want the different style valve seals and/or modded retainers for clearance.
Keep in mind 90's are rougher on the chain than 105's...after 40k on my XP setup I needed a new tensioner.
I say 105's.
Not true, the XP cam itself hurts timing chain DAMPNERS (its not a tensioner). The low idle thrashes around many things in the motor with constant starting and stopping. Note the belt tensioners when you are idling low, they get beat up fairly significantly fairly quickly.
Pat...you are asking about the L76/LS9 springs, not the LS6 or 105's right?
Automatically you are going to want an LS retainer. I've found the Intense retainers fit better and let go of lucks in the future better. Not sure if the ZZP ones are clearanced for slightly more.
Matt.. please remember when posting that info.. those are at 1.800" install height. Our heads with retainers have an install height of abotu 1.78X". With a stock retainer it's about 1.72X"
i use zzp modded retainers, they just clear the valve seal.
Yes I am talking about the L76/LS9 springs. I understand I will need an LS retainer due to it being an LS spring. On intense's website it says nothing about being modified unlike on zzp site it says modified to use with xp cam when used with stock heads. When it says that I would say the no brainer is zzp's correct??
INTENSE-Racing.com: Manley Performance Valvespring Retainers
No, that's not correct. Intense sells LS retainers, ZZP mods a 3800 style retainer. Either will work fine. From an install/removal perspective the ZZP ones tend to bind up on the locks and don't like to come back off easily. The Intense ones work better in this arena.
but you need valve guide clearance for anything over .515" lift.
The different seals should provide the clearance you need though.
