Cannot figure this out. Took it to the dealership + another place. Both said that they don't know whats wrong because no codes are showing!

O.k here is the problem. Automatic '99 GTP

This doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes while accelerating the revs go up, but doesn't change gears. When this happens the engine, and sometimes the battery, and oil light come on. Then the steering gets stiff at this point the car is still on, but basically dead while continuing to move forward. After pulling over I turn off the car, wait a couple seconds. Start it up, and fires fine and everythings normal. But sometimes it will struggle to start, but always drives away normal. What is going on here?

Sounds similar to a Crankshaft position sensor failure.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

    Does it make any noises?

Oil Light coming on doesn't sound good to me. Also...CPS like stated ^^ will cause your tach to bounce while driving...

I'm going to third a crank sensor as the car is stalling. The revs are a little odd, but likely a bad reading from the sensor.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Right..that's because it's not running. No noises are good noises.

sure it could be say ignition switch, driver error (if you turned the key off etc)

Most likely..it's a crank sensor. Very easy and cheap to replace.

Finally got the Crank sensor, going to install it now. Where is it located, and do I need to do move anything, or take anything out to swap it?
    Thanks '99 Auto, GTP

I would think it was the pressure control solenoid in the transmission before the crank sensor.

    But:

    Disconnect the battery-

    Take the belts off-

Remove 2 screws (1) securing the coil (2) to the ignition control module-

Remove the right front wheel and tire-

Remove the right inner fender access cover-

    Remove the crankshaft harmonic balancer-

Remove the crankshaft position sensor shield (1) (Do not use a pry bar)-

    Disconnect the sensor electrical connector-

^^^^^^^^^^^That is how you do it. If you have never taken the harmonic balancer off and you don't have a impact, I would try to find someone who has one.

Yes, you need a harmonic balancer remover/reinstaller. Should be able to get one at Autozone as a loaner.
