Fella that bought my 04 CompG is looking for some more power this year.

Its got an M112 Hybrid supercharger on it and one of the bottlenecks is the stock DBW throttle body. I've ported the humps out of the stock unit around the throttle plate but has anyone actually bored one out and put a larger plate in or tried swapping a different unit on?

I was also wondering this awhile back as well Will.

I know that on the Cobalt's you can go from the DBW LSJ to the LS4 TB...and on the N/A 'Balts you can go from a 2.2 TB to a 2.4 TB...as long as you get the right years with the matching pins. I assume as long as a proper adapter is made or if the bolt pattern is the same...I'd like to see a LS2/LS7 TB on those...only if the LS7 is DBW...can't remember.

Probably not that worth it, you are most likely not 'bottlenecking" anything with a 72mm TB.

I'll put a vaccum gauge on to be sure but I'm confident there's airflow to be gained. Keep in mind this is an M112, nearly 400whp vehicle. I ran an 80mm LS1 TB when the same motor was in my 98 GTP and had to change to the much smaller DBW when I dropped it into an 04.

I didn't think the DBW '04+ TB was THAT much smaller than an LS1 though...what...70ish mm vs. the 75 or so that the LS1 is?

LS2, LS3, LS7 and L76 all run the same TB's. You're talking about a huge jump in just the diameter, probably would take a lot of crafting, and if the pins do match up who's to say that it would act the same. Hell, I think the bigger TB was 90mm or something like that.

I've got access to an LS2 style that I could take a look at since I've got an L32 TB as well so I could at least compare them maybe.

Has anyone ever had any luck with this? Finding out a suitable option for upgrading the 2004+ DBW Throttle Bodies?
