depends on how well you drive. if you can drive well all you need is the 3.5 pulley and the tune that is in your future..

the "soon to come" genV,headers, and rockers should put you beyond that asuming you tune isnt bologna and you can launch. and launching with headers is more easily controlled because your torque tends to creep upwards a bit.

im a ok driver. not the best or the worst. i do kinda have a good reaction when driving or racing. but its diff on the track.
But im not for sure on the gen V yet. trying to find one for a better deal then 600. but headers are gonna be on this spring/summer. 1.9 modded or 1.95 roller rockers are gonna get ordered in a few weeks. but not for sure which ones to get? i have some of the parts to do rockers like valve seals, retainers, studs and other small misc.
I could really run mid 13's with a 3.5? i mean with 0 knock i could have more timing and thats what you want right? less boost and more timing or more boost less timing.
O i have reptile doing my tuning for all of this. i have a base tune from him. just got it the other day. just been to cold to put it in. I heard good things bout his tuning.

yea i havent either and hes a nice guy. OK less boost and more timing. but can you go only so far that way or no?
if you have no knock on a 3.5 pulley and can go down to like a 3.25 with low knock. it'll be better with the 3.5? why do people drop pulley if its better with more timing?

always run at least stock timing. its a personal preference whether you like more timing or boost. i like boost, but technically timing will make for a better 'running' car.

i made it up to 29 degrees although some will say its impossible after some debate and experimenting and some wisdom from bio i now think your goal whould be 20 degrees with as much air as possible and no knock

so run as much boost as i can with staying around 20* of timing?
Sounds like i should be running what i want after the rockers or is is it possiable to run that without them?

I keep on hearing its hard to run mid to low 13's with rockers that you have to have a cam. are they full of it or they telling the truth?

That's what I would go for timing wise.

It is def possible to run mid 13's on a rocker setup. Low 13's, still possible but def not easy.

oh dont get me wrong im full of it but im not steering you wrong here. the point is to just keep an eye on your knock. if you can run up to 20 degrees without knock then your good. if you can get your timing a few degrees above that without knock drop a pulley but dont leave the timing above 20 as ive noticed itll eat head gaskets. you may even have to go up a pulley size if you see knock . everyones car will be different so that setup maybe perfect for mine and too much for yours. as for the cam who cares. get it as you sound like the type that once you get a mod you will want more because it wont be enough. my type of guy

29* of timing is dangerous, anything over 21-22 is pushing it. Timing wise, i flashed an 04 timing table for my 97, then i made modifications to that. Upwards of 37*-40* timing cruising

low 13's/high 12's is possible with 280 WHP.

Guy above has the right idea with the 04+ tables.

I ran up to 22*is timing on my old setup, never ran any better than when the timing was 20*. So I backed it back down to 20 and called it a day.

I may know of a Gen5 that's cheaper than $500, if you're interested in it. That all depends on if I can still get my hands on it.

Isn't 280whp pretty damn high for a non ic, e85 or meth rocker setup?

Yes, it would be very hard pressed with rockers though.

Yea if you can get a gen V for less then that let me know on price first. replacing suspension parts and using up all my extra funds. but my pay checks are pretty good. so maybe...
So sounds like 20* of timing is the best place to be and im getting a scan gauge in a week or so. Then i can keep my eye on knock.
What would the 04+ tables do for our cars? 97-03
Summer is right around the corner and thats when Im putting my headers on and that'll take care of most if not all the knock if i have any.
I wouldnt mind doing a cam. but i cant have my car down for that long and rockers dont take that long to do. Ill prolly end up doing rockers and if that dont get me in the mid 13's ill just say f*** it and get a intercooler.
If i end up going that route where would i be looking at for quater mile times?

Thanks for all the help guys.

rockers, f/s intercooler, and headers should put you in the low 13's. If you drive the piss out of it high 12's.

that sounds sweet to me. full size intercooler price is whats gonna get me. i know to stay away from the ssic cuz it heat soaks. is there a alternative to the full size? I thought someone was making them cheaper on the forums?
