So, I just installed a cone filter intake on my 05 GTP. Now, my car is getting some warranty work done tomorrow. They are replacing a tensioner pulley that is going bad.

Just got back from a spin in the GTP after installing the intake, and I'm not sure what it is, but it's whining quite loud. Almost like an emergency siren coming from my engine bay. Not sure on if it's just the super charger radiating the sound louder with the piping from the intake, or what. Also a quiet clicking or knocking noise comes in when i accelerate but it is very quiet.

Anybody have any input? Thoughts on what to check?

my new intake makes it so you can hear all the ticking and ****. its just the internal parts in the motor. the loud whine is probably just cuz of the open cone magnifying the sound. i wouldnt be worried. post pics if you would please

you'll definitely hear more whine with the intake. Clicking isn't your pulley tensioner?

I don't believe so, because then I would hear the ticking at idle. I don't hear anything until I accelerate or hammer on it.

So I'm thinking the internal parts would be the valve rockers knocking back and forth that's resonating through the open cone that I'm hearing then...? And the whine is just the supercharger hissing through the engine block?

With a cone intake the supercharger noise is more pronounced. The ticking could be a fuel injector, rockers, or even a small exhaust leak.

Or it could just be the ticking from these engines because they are old school, noisey, pushrod motors....that's probably normal it is just more audible with an open cone element and not all the silencers from the factory air intake system.
