Hey everyone, I have a 97 GTP with @ 180,000 on her. I'm having a problem. The instant the boost kicks in, the car hesitates??? if I let off the gas and let the boost drop back off it's fine?? I've tried it without the SC belt on and it ran perfectly fine?? What are the first things I should look at??? your help is much appreciated

I replaced them like a year ago, don't remember what kind they were though?? like I said runs completely fine without the SC belt on, and when it is on, just the instant the boost kicks in (and I'm going by the little bars on the dash for the boost) the instant the first one appears = hesitation..let of the gas and it's fine as long as I don't give it too much pedal to engage the boost?

I would say plugs or wires.. or even coils for that matter.. thats a lot of miles for stock wires or coils.

No didn't change the wires, and not sure if coils have ever been changed? So yea I'm gonna go ahead and change everything out, hopefully that will work, thanks guys.

On that note, I'm thinking about getting MSD Coils and Wires, do you guys think it would be worth the extra $$ as opposed to just getting OEM replacement stuff?

And lastly what are the best plugs to get, I've seen quite a few people say Autolite, just not sure exactly which ones, and what would be the best gap setting? thanks in advance.

    MSD wires are decent.

MSD coils are worse than stock.

    Get some BWD select coils.

    You're stock.

Autolite 606's, NGK TR55 or TR5's, or even AC Delco plugs would be fine.

TR55's are colder range...no go jeeves.

AL606's or even AL605's are fine. I love copper plugs, cheap and they get the job done right the first time. Gap them at .055".

As for the hesitation...either your BBV is shot...the black valve in front of the right side of the blower by the throttle body...OR....which I bet it is...I had this issue a couple times...is a vacuum leak. It's fine but once you roll into boost they line is put under pressure if you will...and opens, causing the leak. Check all the rubber "T" fittings and plastic lines around the Fuel Rail, BBV, EVAP Solenoid, TB, MAP Sensor, and under the S/C Snout...

I save something like 60 cents by using 104's instead of TR6's....

PRJ wires cost less than that.

I had the hesitation issue as well and had a couple of bad wires. Replaced this with new ones and everything was fine.
I put headers on later and got random missfires on #1, ran like crap. Went to pull the plug off and it cracked in half...

Check both plugs and wires. Replace the wires for sure and the plugs if necessary.
2005 GTP - AL 605's gapped at .055", SD headers, WAI with 9" cone air filter, 180 degree t-stat, green coolant, otherwise stock.
