Yup, since the heads are different, the bolt pattern for the valve covers are also changed.

I thought the bolt patterns were the same... just the added room for the injectors.

Pretty sure last time I lined a couple up, besides the injector bosses...the bolts were in different spots too.

if he likes driving sign him up for some racing lessons.

That ought to solve your problem...

Got the Valve cover off cleaned everything off and found, at the top of the cover where it molded around the fuel injectors, the material is thin and brittle. This has got to be why it is leaking again. There are rub marks where the injector sits too.

gonna have to get it good enough until I can get new covers. local auto parts don't have them.

Will install the felpros gasket set with RTV and hopefully that will keep it.

Any body know a good place to get replacements that are not overly expensive?

dont get new covers unless they are broke. Just get BETTER gaskets.

Its not because the covers are thin.... its because the gasket was compressed and no longer making a seal.

Get new gaskets and new grommets and you'll be okay.

Last time I checked the plastic composite valve covers were A LOT more money then metal ones, including aluminum.

Just thought I'd throw that into the mix.

I've seen the same thin condition on my valve covers (near the injectors).

The leaking condition was fixed by a new gasket/grommet job. There was nothing wrong with the composite gaskets (that was causing the leaking).

Unless you want a prettier valve cover, the OEM composite ones will be fine (even with the thin wall condition).

Not sure how many people know this or Replied, But The front valve cover gasket is recalled on all the 3800S/C Motors, Bring it to you local pontiac dealer and they'll fix it for free.

Has already been addressed. I did my gaskets myself though, screw taking my modded car to a dealership. They would look at it and go "wtf do i do with this!? whats that shinny thing there under that spinning intake system thingy there?"

Guy, new gaskets are useless without good grommets. Might as well get them all and do them all properly and forget about it for a while.

you can get the kit with everything,

i think for l67's its easier to get everything and for l36 its easier to get them separately.

I have replaced the front valve cover with a used one that was in better condition than mine. I used felpros gasket with some silicone. I hand tightened the bolts, so as not to over torque. Still getting oil around the top side of the cover. Thinking how oil gets up, I replaced the PCV valve, changed the oil and cleaned the area around the cover. It still looks like I am getting a bit of oil around the top side still. Any Ideas??

Alsooo, while attempting to replace the rear cover I was removing the housing that has the heater line for the heater core. the line that goes into the engine block is now seeping anitfreeeze. I did not completely remove this line because I was not prepared at the time for this to come off and did not have the fluid drained. Is there a gasket/ o-ring for this and what exactly would I ask for?

Found out it was not the VC that was leaking it was the lower and upper intake manifolds.
