Was driving around this morning when the ses light came on, hooked up my code reader and the car was throwing the P301 code random misfire cylinder #1, I have fairly new plugs and wires, both were replaced in August, and I replaced all the coils in June. The only thing I can think of it being is a fuel injector. Is this where I should start? Is there anyway to test the coils?

Swap the bottom coil with one of the other coils. If the P0301 moves to another cyclinder (say P0302-6) problem isolated. Hope this helps.

Good idea. They are used coils co it may be very likely that one died.

Swapped two of the coils around and still misfire cylinder #1.
I noticed it only pops up when I'm driving down the highway, I can clear the code and drive around town all day long no problem, but I take a trip down the highway and the ses light starts flashing at me.

Omnispark or whatever from Oreilly's. I order a set of Bocsh wires because all any of the parts stores in town had in were the cheepos.

The cheepos that have the lifetime warranty are the best.

Yeah those are the ones I have now, Matt and a few others in chat were saying that they went through 2-3 pairs of the cheepos before they finally got the premium ones.

We have Duralast wires at Vatozone...

Perfect on a few 3800 cars I've done a tune up on.

Now another problem has sprung up, where the fuel lines connect to the fuel rail I am leaking fuel........ I don't know if this was leaking before but it would explain my bad gas mileage and the reason I could smell fuel, reason I replaced the orings on the injectors. I don't even know where to start with that one........... Seems I try to fix one thing something else breaks..........

Disconnect the connection and replace the O ring in there. They get old and brittle. I think they are .70 cents. Autozone has them.

    LOL at nick...

You can buy a new quick disconnect which is around $10 here or go to autozone and fine the HELP! o-ring pack.

then struggle to get them out of your disconnects....

I like the replace the whole thing deal.

Actually it was really easy to replace the o rings I did both of the lines since i was already down there.
But after all that and the new wires I am still getting the P0301 misfire cylinder #1..... I think a icm is the next thing I'm gonna check.

    Hurray for proper tools.

Next item is usually the injector, not the ICM.

Unless you have a bunch lying around like I do...

Try moving the injector or better yet ohming it out first.

    16 ohms is stock IIRC.

    Or 15.5?
