code for a knock sensor came up. replaced it. engine had very bad lag and ran like crap when you gave it gas. replaced the knock sensor with a new one. had to drain all the coolant and stuff too. still had the same problem. a day later i replaced my plug wires and noticed a bunch of rust on one of the contacts on the coil pack. i cleaned it off and it ran fine again. then 2 days later my knock sensor code comes back and my car runs like crap again but not nearly as bad. i can go WOT with no problem but the throttle response isnt there and acts as if it was no power under light throttle compared to before.

weird problem!! what could it be? something else throwing the knock sensor code or is it a faulty knock sensor?

Throttle positin sensor maybe? I only say that because you said it doesn't have the throttle repsonse it should and that it doesn't have the power under light acceleration that it should.

start with baisic tune up... see you did your wires but did you do your plugs... read the plugs see what each hole tells you. i X2 4thgen but get a scanner and look at the tps% if the engine is not running you should see a steady increase of % as you press the pedal. if it jumps around then it is bad... but they are kinda pricy so that is why i say start with the cheep parts if you are going to do a "throw a part at it and see if it fixes it"

okay but the throttle response is nice and completly normal from 40% throttle and up. i can use a snapon ethos scanner from school and look at the tps though.

just did the plugs too. ac delco direct replacement gapped to .55

maybe a fuel pressure regulator... could be causeing a rich knock... deffantly look at your fuel trims and that tps... also look at your maf sensor see what its running... any mods?

only mods are a cai. otherwise stock and this problem happened after i put the cai on but it was fine for a couple days and didnt happen right away so i dont think that would cause it? if it doesnt have response at lower throttle but at higher throttle its great, it probly isnt a fuel problem? it could be a lot of things though

A knock sensor code isn't going to set from other items typically, unless we are talking about a pcm.

What is the code you keep getting?
What did you torque the new sensor in ft lbs?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

i couldnt get a torque wrench in there or even a ratchet. the only thing i could do is use a pipe wrench crows foot with an extension
