what about this cam?
Thrasher Engineered Performance Race Cam: 3800 Performance
the NICK cam?
Its epic. but not for stock heads and not really a DD cam....
not a cam you want to try and make power with either. its more of a novelty cam.
That cam makes your car sound like sex but...its slow.
i know no one ever does the is2... but what about it? if i found a set of used heads for cheap then i would buy them and do a bigger cam but i dont have a spare set of heads right now lol. unless someone has some :p but idk what i want haha its so confusing.... can the is2 be used on stock heads?
oooso basically they r identical just the xp sounds a little more aggresive :p haha
a lot of how it sounds has to do with your exhaust.
^^Pretty much.
My car is actually louder at cruise and idle with the full catback...my no muffler dumped setup is only louder at WOT.
i mena like the lope in the exhaust. that is the exhaust? and i got some magnaflow mufflers lol
the cam is what makes the lope, but your exhaust is what either muffles it or not in order to make it audible.
lol well what im sayin is the xp has a little more lope than the s1x?
not really.
o they both sound the same also? so which one should i get :p such a hard choice lol... or find someone with a cheap set of used heads i can get and do a bigger cam?
You can get any sound you want out of stock heads.. Lift does nothing for sound.
Smaller the LSA # (Lobe Separation) the choppier the cam. Hence why the NIC cam is a rough mafaker...I think its 112. Mine is a 114, and the XP/S1X IIRC are 115 or 116.
ooo ok i get it now :).. but i still havent got any answers as to waht cam to get :p hahaha
The differences in the XP and S1X are very minimal. The decision is up to you...there is TONS of feedback in this thread I think your over looking. Both the S1X and the XP will require a new timing chain and dampner. You'll need a cam install kit from ZZP unless you can outsource all the gaskets and crap cheaper somewhere else. New oil/oil filter/coolant, etc. The basics. Springs/Retainers...I went with #90 LS6 springs/retainers...but they are a bit on the rougher side...in almost 45K when the motor got pulled the dampner was almost chewed up. 105's are on the easier side of things, hence why people go with them more, IMO...that and they are just more common. I had nothing but good things from my XP setup...I'd say get it...tried and true.
yea i am for sure gettin a new timing chain and dampner lol no problem, and i have new 105 springs and retainers. i may get a stronger timing chain than stock also tho lol. if i get a used set of heads than i am going with the 1s3 cam... if not than i am most likely goin with the xp
Get the s1x. because it is sounds close to sex.
