No.
Lol. Everyone on this forum will say they suck, but it will work just fine. Most 1.0 pcms are calibrated for a 3.4 pulley, so you may run a little rich with just a downpipe.
You'd be surprised how many people are happy with just some fan settings changed, torque management changes and lowering PE some. That is basically what the dhp pcm amounts to. Also people try to run a 1.0 pcm with a cam or another mod that will throw off the tune, the car runs bad or chips a piston and they blame it on the pcm having no idea what that pcm is actually doing.
as the member stated above, the pcm will do you just fine as long as you dont have any major upgrades that should require a tune. I have a pcm programmed by zzp and i have yet to have any issues.
DHP PCM...get one from 3800 Performance.
ONLY PCM ever on the WBody scene never to have an issue with a customers car.
As stated above, most people get a PRE TUNED PCM and expect it to be completely compatible with their car. All cars are different, therefore the tunes will have to be different. It isnt accurate to shun every other PCM because some moron messed up his car.
That being said, I had a ZZP 1.0 in my 97 GT and it was great. I kept beating on my friends 3.4 pulley ssei with it. DONT forget to include the skip shift feature, that is one of the best parts.
Go with ZZP, just make sure you tell them everything uve done to your car so they can account for it in the tune.
YouTube - Bonneville SSEI vs Grand Prix GT
LOL Because that SSEi was knocking like a *****.
End point. And sure, your post was awesome...because just since you said it, that means everyone should go buy one? Your not even boosted...which...any company can tune a PCM for a N/A car and not blow it up. A bunch of cars on here have met destruction thanks to one of their PCM's...I had FIVE of them...all of them wrong and stuck in programming mode. Do I recommend them? No...since you can get a DHP that will out perform it for the same price and has never had any issues. Just because your GT beat a supercharged, knocking yacht...doesn't mean squat in this thread. That was probably a mid to high 15 second SSEi anyways.
Question, for the price and would u reccomend getting a pre tuned pcm from one of the sites, even not a zzp or take your car in and pay someone to tune it properly? What's the better idea? And cost effective?
If you have someone around you...and if you have a wideband...a street custom tune is ALWAYS better than a mail order PCM, no matter the company.
I say buy one from 3800 Performance...or shoot me a PM...I can get one for ya on teh cheap.
get me one for the cheap
I was very happy with my overkill tune
calm down child. i didnt mean to offend your self esteem by sayin you were wrongfully biased. BUT ur an idiot. Because some moron(you in this case) did something wrong and ****ed up his car, that doesnt mean its zzp's fault. They tune for what you specify. Your way isnt the only way (dont let that hit you too low).
The vid was just for enjoyment. That GP ran 8.7 in an 8th![]()
i posted stating my own humble opinion about zzp pcms. Since im sure everyone else will. Just so the OP knows that not everyone has problems with them.
To the OP
I had no problems with the PCM, that doesnt mean you won't.
He had problems with the PCM, that doesnt mean you will.
Right, because I tuned the PCM's they ship out. Considering all of the PCM's were in programming mode (if you even know what that is with your obvious showing of your vast knowledge for the 3800 platform) Your a genius...come back when you have a legitimate statement.
Kid.
For example, if you tell ZZP that the octane you run is 94 and they tune for that, but you only have 91, obviously its your fault that you are knocking like hell. I dont sit on the forums and just read every post and try to out do everyone. I dont care to know everything there is to know about a 3800. But i do know you are biased without reason. I doubt one of the major vendors for our community would make the same mistake 5 times with one customer. Id bet that you are just too high strung to admit any of it was due to you.
Dont get upset. Its just a forum, right?
oh god... dont get nick all worked up...
pretty funny the only reason i clicked on this thread was to see what nick said lol
but to sam... some pcms have a better track record than others and most commonly people go with the DHP tunes...
are they better? maybe... depends on the car really...
just do a little research brotha
Off topic what's overkills track record like?
Actually, I used 93 octane. Obviously, not my fault they tuned the PCM wrong...but you know everything it seems. Good job scooter. My mods as the car sat when I bought the PCM were FWI, 180*, AL104's, ZZP 3.5" MPS, PEM's 3" Catless DP/3" Custom Catback, ZZP Shift Kit, TB Spacer/TB Heat Shield. Pretty sure...even though a few of those things were useless...that those were MORE than enough to run a 3.5"...but I don't know anything. I'm just too high strung.
thats y i said FOR EXAMPLE. settle down and read.
some cars have more trouble with knock than others. yours could have been one of them. zzp(and many other vendors) have aggressive timing tables and that only makes it worse.
I think your last sentence is the only thing youve said that IS right. You're learning![]()
this thread makes me want to punch babies and puppies.
my e-dick is bigger.
