I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with the 3.8 supercharged V6. The check engine light has come on and when i run a diagnostic test it gives me the code, P0033 Turbocharger/Supercharger Wastegate Cntrl Ckt. I am not sure if it is the Valve or the Sensor for it, but it's a really big price gap on the parts, does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts as to what it might be and what i need to do to fix it? I ran a different diagnostic and the code came up as turbo/supercharger bypass valve open. Any thoughts or solutions would be great.

Hopefully they weren't charging you more than this...here is a brand new one from Eaton. Along with that bypass...get some new matching universal rubber line...that way you can rule out any leaks it might have had to the vacuum tree on the top of the supercharger.

Thank you Blue, and actually yes they were, the part you listed that are charging $240. That is what i was told anyways. The sensor itself was priced at $42. I will look into getting one now.

Hey, bringing back an old thread. Does anyone know what product was linked above by Blue??? The link is no longer valid. This code hit my 06 GT this morning. Any CEL seems to prevent remote start too and it was a little chilly out this morning, LOL... Plus I just want to fix the problem. Thanks!

its most likely for the whole BBV assembly, the plunger and solenoid. they are easy enough to steal from cars at the junkyard, though.

I am seeing a part on ZZP that looks like this:

    Found here: http://zzperformance.com/3800/eaton-bypass-valve.html

And a part elsewhere that looks like this:

I was researching and came across a GM part number of 1997244, but some other places say that it is for a 96-99 Grand Prix, and makes no mention of anything newer like an '06... I will look under the hood tonight to see what mine looks like, but which of these is the right one to check (plus some line and general checking for leaks) to be sure that I order the right thing? Thanks again!

The top pics are the actuators and th bottom is the soleniod. the soleniod is the only thing the pcm can see from a control circuit standpoint. Because it's the only electronics. 95% of the issues I've seen regarding the setup is related to the soleniod.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I have a box of 10+ of these solenoids, as I delete them on every car I tune.

They are a part that is never used by anything, but they will throw a code if they screw up somehow.

Looks like I will be changing one of these for the second time in a year. First one GM paid for under warranty and now it is my turn.
Wife: Your car feels just like mine.
Me thinking: You didn't step on the gas enough to feel the supercharger.

I was under the impression if TCS reached a high enough level it would command 14.x AFR and force open the BBV.

I recently had the error code p0033 on my '07 Grand Prix GT. The fix was to replace the solenoid on the supercharger. I purchased the part from a local GM dealer for $43.75, as it was difficult to find from the big name part stores. Part number 1997244, description "Valve, Supercharger Bypass." I attempted to order it online from Napa and after a week and a half they told me the part is being discontinued.

You pretty much have to destroy the vacuum hose that connects the solenoid to the actuator, so you might as well pick up new hose in advance.

Thanks to all who have posted on here. I'm not the type who works on cars much and it feels good to get out of this relatively cheaply.

I can't remember off the top of my head what I replaced since it was about 18 months ago, but looking back through this, it was the solenoid part # 1997244 as mentioned. Worked like a charm. I didn't have any real issues getting it out or replaced and didn't destroy any vacuum hoses though.
