i found the harnesses, it would be roughly the same price. good call though, thanks for the info.

Yea except i ordered it late monday and they still havent shipped it...wtf!
that's no good lol. have they charged your account yet?
Yes. they said they started processing yesterday.
teaser pic of the black blower
what do you guys think as far as injectors? top swapped, .531 cam lift, roughly a 3.0" or 3.25" pulley. should stock injectors be alright or should i look into 42.5#/hr?
Definitely need bigger. Ive heard of some cases where top swapped cars run out of injectors on a 3.4.
i was afraid of that. those bastards are expensive
Not really...I know a few people that have them...that might let them go for the right price
Honestly Phil, since your still high compression...I'd start with a 3.4" or 3.5".....it'll be plenty fast and you should be alright on IPW's. Especially with that cam.
If you are looking at E85 anytime this would be the time to go bigger for those.
there i an e85 station 7 miles from me... God damn money pit.
nick, i was planning on starting with a bigger pulley. i bought a snout with a dub modular system on it, and the only one i have is a 3.0". i wasn't all that concerned with buying a new one, considering the length of time it's taking me to build this SOB. also, define IPW's lol
my cam install kit, head gaskets, and missing idler pullies just got here. parts list is getting shorter
I wish I could say the same..
IPW's are injector pulse width...IIRC if they are anywhere over 20...your out of injector.
I still would get a 3.5"...or even a 3.8" to just start it on...higher compression is easier to **** up on, just keep that in mind
Since when don't IPW's mean anything?
got my ported LIM back today, my heads are almost done, and he said that he can get my blower to his friend to port out tomorrow. double roller is en route, and i just got paid, so after i make my car and insurance payment and get plates for the firebird, i should have enough to send headers to my doorstep, as well as the wiring harnesses. so here's what i'm worried about at the moment:
my fuel rails and injectors have been sitting in my barn for over a year, and i believe they were in another garage, not being used, for roughly a year. new O-rings are a must, but do you think the inside of the rails are corroded or anything? they are copper or something. same with the BBV. are these still useable? is there a decent way to restore them?
i'm guessing i should replace the front main seal with the cover off, same with the water pump as i have a decent one laying around. i might leave it alone, however, just to have one less chance of messing up a gasket. confidence issue lol.
there are a lot of snap rings on coolant and vacuum hoses, am i gonna need to replace those?
and finally, where does the brake booster line attatch to the L67 intake assembly?
in other news, i took the GP out for a drive tonight, as i've driven it twice since i bought my firebird (both times to get parts for the firebird). i've suspected a slight coolant leak for awhile now, as i'll see white smoke out of the exhaust during warm up, and i smell something that i probably shouldn't. temps have been higher than usual since i changed coolant, but i kinda thought i didn't get enough in or it was normal. but tonight, i parked it and smelled burning oil when i got out. i popped the hood and confirmed it. there is at least one oil leak somewhere, and i'm thinking multiple. there was one at the back of the engine on the side of the rear head that i'm thinking leaked onto the manifold, but i could detect a very faint sweet smell. so now i have a legit reason to tear into the motor; this swap could very well save my car, or at least prolong it's life for a little while until the transmission goes. justification? i think so.
that's what i accomplished tonight
no, i'm not using that block. and yes, that's really ****ty quality, but i wan't moving 300 pounds of iron for a teaser pic. everything's ported and painted at this point, just waithing on the credit union to send me the title for the firebird so i can put plates on it before i can tear into the 3800, and waiting until after i find out how bad i'm getting rocked for my speeding ticket. almost there... over 2 years later
The brake booster attatches to the big nipple on the vac tree on top of the SC. you shouldnt need a new hose since i didnt. Its looking good. while i was in college my uncle said my car was smoking (I think it was valve cover gaskets) but i first asked him if it smelled sweet, he said yea kinda. So maybe the oil just smells like that. (I cant smell and it never smoked for me so i dont know)
