Well I've decided to go with the Cold Air Inductions, Inc. intake found here

This one comes with a 9" K&N cone intake which I am choosing not to buy. Instead I will be replacing it with an Amsoil filter. I'm against K&N usage of oiled filters (lets not fight about it).

My question is, on the zzp site their Wizair comes with a 4" K&N as an option. Should I go with a 4" or 9" filter? Why?

    Thanks.

Good choice on the filter. I use their filters, fluids, the works in all my vehicles.

The advantage of a 9" over a 4" as I see it is more surface area in which to pull air through. Theres also more area to trap dirt before the filter loads up and restrictions occur. I would personally use the largest filter you can get away with. Something like EaAU4090 should probably do the trick depending on what size flange they use. There's even a 9.5", EaAU4095, if that would fit in there.

I guess the big advantage of a larger filter would be a lower pressure drop since there is more surface are in which to pull air through. Other than those I cannot think of any other reasons at the moment.

You're measurements are of two different values. They come with the same filter.

The WizAired comes with a 9" long filter with a 4" opening (that's what they mean by a 4" filter). The CAI box comes with a 9" long filter and is probably the same 4" wide in the opening.

x2, you want a 4"x9" cone. 4" diameter opening, and 9" long. I have an AEM Dry Flow myself and I love it. Well at least as much as a man can love an air filter. I am a part of the anti K&N club too. At least when it comes to their air filters anyway. I like their oil filters.
