Well i know all about the stock supecharger couplers going bad and i ordered a zzp one one month ago. I planned on changing it when i get my car back anyways. So i get it back today and everything is running great except a rattling noise from the supercharger. I just want to make sure that it is the couple that i need to replace and get other opinions. Below is a video of the noise.

Actually im not quite sure how the shop installed the new tranny but the old tranny that was in the car from the first shop i took it to was the wrong tranny and they never reinstalled the tranny bracket so the whole engine was leaning to the right and uneven. I guess that's what the chain is still there. When i went to the shop earlier to pick up the car it was still attached lol.

No i didnt drive it home yet. I left it still at the shop so they can run some more tests tommorow morning before i go back to pick it up. I also want them to replace my power steering fluid leak that i had since my old n/a motor so they are going to check and replace the leaky part tommorow. I will take the chain off tomorrow once i go back to pick up the car.

prolly the coupler but is there any noise near the centre of the case?

If so, thats probably your needle bearings.

No the noise is coming mainly from the snout and i finally got the car home today and got ready to change the couple and oil and i saw some play on the supercharger pully when i moved it back and fourth.

Oh and as i went to remove the supercharger snout fill plug, i seemed to have stripped it and now i dont know what to do. Do i take it to the dealer for them to help remove it or a regular shop?

there are extracter tools you can buy or pay someone to get it out.

Then you need to buy a new one.

zzp sells them. I'd get a replacement before you attempted to remove the old one.

Its not very hard to do. I think it sounds harder than it is to rebuild them.

Just take the next size up Allen socket and pound it in the plug and it will take it out.

that is the same sound that my charger is making and the oil plug is all rusted, looks like ill be ordering a new plug and coupler myself. This is currently the only vehicle that my wife and I own...it will become a project car eventually but for a little bit here it needs to be a reliable vehicle. Is it going to destroy anything more in the charger if i leave it like that for a little while? Also is there any way to just take the charger off the engine and just run it as a standard 3800? Im guessing ill need to get a new/ different throttle body along with a number of other items that will take just as long to put on then to just change the coupler. Will the new coupler fix the play in the pulley as well?

yep take snout off, then the coupler comes right off and put the new one on and it take about 7-8 fl oz of oil. And you need some anerobic sealer for the snout to case, to seal it perfect.
