i was always told copper is more conductive and burns cooler... all the guys running old school chevys and fords at my local 8th mile track all run copper... alot use 104's in N/A setups as well.

from what i understand platinum requires less voltage to do the same thing copper does and lasts longer. however, my Dad had a s/c IROC-Z. he was told to use copper for the fatter area the plug has and to gap smaller so the charger wouldn't blow the spark out...something like that. mine is a DD and i don't want to change plugs every 16K miles.
16k? LOL I wish...try every 2 oil changes.
i also changed mine around every 10k or less.
^^^ agree 10k MAX.
I dont mean to sound stupid or thread jack for that matter but I dont know alot about spark plugs to begin with so im gona ask. what comes stock on our cars? i just hit the 80k range and as far as I know my plugs have never been changed. is that a bad thing or what. my next question is if it is time to change what should I go with that I dont have to change out all of the time(because isnt it a pain in the butt?) and are there any that help (or hurt) full economy less? im sorry if there are dumb questions in there but I really dont know much about em
A few things I do to cars that have never had plugs changed...I ditch the stupid metal plug boot covers, the gold manifold shields, and the misc. engine pull brackets...that frees up a little space to do that back for sure. I also reroute them under the blower snout...it really cleans up the engine bay. Since you have a GT though you still can route them on the top of the Intake Manifold...and...for a stock plug choice...you can run AL606's...or even stock range AC Delco's...can't remember the part number on that plug to save my life.
Well I had 2* of knock at WOT and I didn't race it. My intake temp was 104* so I'm going to put my intake back on.
I also need to run colder plugs. I know the copper 104's you have to change every 10K, but isn't there an NGK plug that you can go 40K with?
i change my plugs once a year in all my cars. even if they only have 5k miles on them.
Since I had a set of copper 605's lying around I threw those in and that lowered my KR by 25%. I'm thinking about trying the NGK TR6 plugs since they're colder than the 605's and I heard I could go to the 40K miles range before they need to be changed.
Just buy 104's...what are they like a $1.99 a pop anyways? It's not like your buying E3 plugs for your Lambo where the entire set would run over a hundred bucks
Yeah, I might do that, I dunno. I just hate changing them.
Well...just saying...not to sound like an a$$ but if your complaining about changing to the correct heat range plug then you shouldn't mod your car...but even then...you'd still have to change plugs regardless eventually.
You're an a$$ :th_laugh-lol2:. j/k.
It's not that I can't change the plugs, its that if there's a plug out there that will do the same job and require less frequent changes, why the hell not? If the 104's are the best and/or only way to go then so be it. :th_thumbsup-wink:
Well...I mean they aren't your only choice they are just the best recommened one for the job and have been proven.
Fair enough.
What should I gap the 104's to?
we dont know.
We dont know ANYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYThing
Ok........
