Thread: Mods to Help MPG

Get a new fuel filter, plugs, wires, and front o2 sensor.

^^ Like he said, do maintenance first. If you want to help mileage and add power, exhaust mods like a downpipe and plog can help. I recently did rockers and my mileage improved. Changing the intake usually helps too. Keep in mind most of the gains (in my experience anyway) only really come in the form of improved highway mileage. City mileage hasn't really changed much for me. So if you don't do much highway driving, you might not see any gains. I don't know if I'd bother with the water pump pulley.

I had gone from 28mpg hwy to 32-33mpg hwy with a thrasher CAI, and a 3.4 pulley.

Swap your 3.8 for a 4.0 pulley
Drive smart, look ahead, no hard stopping/starting
Stock stat... Skinny tires...

I for sure will have a 4.0 pulley for the winter!
No need for all that boost in the snow

We should contact ZZP, try and get a group buy on 4.0" pulleys for the MPS
They would be like, " Power UnAdders"...
Try to get them for like $20/ea shipped

we're putting a 4.2" pulley on my friends mom's GTP. mmmm tuned for regular gas and low boost !

Thats not a bad idea either. Fuel economy goes up with lower octane. That blower sure would look odd with a 4.2" pulley on it though. I guess we are going to have to come up with some belt sizes for the 4.0 and 4.2" pulleys.

Honestly, to actually make it worth the money, you would have to drive a ton. Just think how long spending $150 on a downpipe would take to pay off with 2 better mpg...
