    Hey guys,

I was wondering: back in March I had to replace my heads and was wondering that since I'm taking my car to the Middle East - where there are no/few GP's - if I have the same problem again, is it possible to get a local machine shop to machine or repair the heads, or is getting new heads the only way to go?

    Cheers!

EDIT: Hell of a long sentence!

New is the only way I've heard of correcting the problem. Not sure that they could be fixed effectively.

For the cost.. take an extra set with you. A set can be found for as little as $100 or sometimes even less. A done set can cost as little as $700ish. Even I have a set of Stage 2's sitting here bagged from the machine shop read to go.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Bill - Was afraid you might say that - but yeah, for a 100 $, its a worthwhile investment. Good idea.

Bio - Is it really that common? If I can still use them thats great, but I guess I should take another set back with me just in case.

Thanks to both of you guys.

Well, if that's the endgame then I would do it. But if I can find more cost-effective quality methods of repairing my car then I see no reason not to pursue them. Also, since I'm basically a student who took a loan to come here and used my savings to take my car back, I should try and be frugal and smart about the whole thing, don't you agree? Generally, I wouldn't consider taking a car back, but since I've learnt almost everything about cars from working on my GP, I'm a bit sentimental about it, especially now that Pontiac is dead.

Oh, and I stay in Dubai

    Cheers!

But I'm permanently based in Dubai. I'm here on a visa that expires in a couple months, with little chance of it being renewed. So once I finish flight training here its back to Dubai or India to look for jobs. There isnt any coming back here for me, because as a non-US citizen, no US airline can give me a job until I have 1500 flight hours. I'll leave here with 250, so even if I do get back here, it will take a minimum of 2-3 years to even apply for a job here, and its unlikely I'll get one anyway. So that's why I'm taking it back. Costs about 1500$ to ship my car, and though it may seem foolish, to me its worth it.

    Cheers!

Hell I have 3 sets of S/C heads with cracks between the valves. I would love to have a set that is NOT cracked for the KIT Car. But wouldn't care about a DD. And Panzer4, if you get back there and need something, I'm sure we can find it for you (whole car if needed) and get it to you. 1500 is really cheap to have a car shipped to Dubai. IMO anyway. Heck I would love to take a trip to Dubai and hangout for several days-week or so. Later.
    Lambokit to be built!!!!!
