Quick question, and I'll explain the easiest I can... I have an 02 ssei ... My friend with HP tuners has a 99 GTP ... Will his tune , which is saved on his computer, via hptuner's, work in my Bonneville?
    Thank you in advance

No. His VIN is different. Not sure if you can change that with HP tuners. Using DHP I think you can, but not sure about HP tuners. Long story short no.

I know the bins would be way different. Lol
Credits would be bought for the Bonneville. So flashing his. Gtp tune won't work, because of the vin discrepancy.
But will the vin be attached to the now saved ,in laptop , tune?
I can only imagine that a person who sells tunes , already loaded in an ecm, has to rewrite a tune for identical setups in say a Buick GS, and a Olds LSS , minus of course the vin change?

It's an interesting thought .... Exact same drivetrains with very similar modifications .... Other than being vin specific, wouldn't the tunes act the same?

Writing a grand prix tune onto a bonneville computer could brick it and they are 3 years different aswell, another reason to not do this.

If you wish to use anything that is on that 99 file, just use the compare feature and see what you can carry over.

These cars are very simple to tune, there won't be alot different between them.

The same basics apply for all fueling and timing changes, you make pretty much similar changes to dial everything in. If he can tune his 99 grand prix, doing a bonneville will be a cake walk.

I wrote over my 02 regal with a 99 or 00 tune to get away from the vats. No problems there.

if you didn't retain the 02 maf file I bet its not even close to good.

99 wont work with the 00+ instrument cluster/shifter display.
You will find that it will run but a lot of the data bus features will not...things like communication to the BCM and instrument cluster module....hence osid numbers

open your Bonneville tune, then open the Compare file you want to use. Copy and paste the tables over

That's a whole different ball game there. That's not something you could do for a car with all the other functions needed.

For him just doing the compare and copy is the smartest choice.
