first i want to say hello. i have a 3800 gtp grand prix. i sold my yamaha r6 for just a nicer daily driver and i didnt want to pay 2 insurances anymore. well im a car guy, but i dont know about spacific mods to this car.

i want an exhaust system but somthing that removes my cat but takes car of the oxygen sensor as well. i want something that just sounds mean, not ungodly loud or anything but loud is good. so mufflers as well.

    thanks, kyle

check this thread out for sounds http://www.grandprixforums.net/f71/o...read-1941.html

That may give you a better idea on what to look for. welcome here to gpf by the way.also check out the for sale section for some deals.IMO i dont like the sound of v6's with exhaust...thats just me...mine is a little louder than stock because of the full headers and downpipe that are on the car. but i do still have the stock mufflers and stock exhaust from the resignator back

How much are you willing to spend. There are alot of choices out there. Some more expensive than others. Depending on what your looking for and the sound that you want, it could be possible to get by cheaper to by the off road pipe (no cat), u-bend delete, whatever type of muffler you want, maybe a decent turbo style, and go to a exhaust shop and have it all put on. And also have the resonator replaced with straight pipe. That's just a possible option. If you want loud, I did a resonator delete, and did away with my mufflers. She deffinatly wakes the neighbors when I fire her up at 6 in the morning. Got bored one day and hacked the muffs off and put in straight pipe. Want to quiet her down some now. Working on getting a sound clip up first.

keep the resonator on it then, it will sound like crap after you delete the cat, the resonator will help mellow out the sound so it isn't as raspy. I have yet to find a nice sounding exhuast system for our car's that is good throughout all rpm's.

    My $0.02 on it...

if you want it to sound "mean" put a bigger after market cam in your motor. Then, what ever exhaust you have, will sound mean.

But if thats all you want to change for sound...

either gut, or leave the cat alone, both are fine, for sure leave the resonator alone, and change the mufflers, since this is the part that muffles the sound, by changing the mufflers only, your changing the exhaust tone.

Many like the Magnaflows, or Flowmasters mufflers. I have dual chamber Flowmasters on my car, and like them very much. Borlas are nice, as the complete cat back kit...but damn expensive for sure. Many have installed the GMPP exhaust kit, and like that very much too.
