SO....im not letting the car beat me. Its not going to be top swapped anymore, im getting a low mileage L36 back in her. I need to find a rear bumper in good condition, color doesnt matter. Im also putting the new fender on, and having my rust bubble under the fuel door fixed, and getting the entire car repainted. Gonna keep it stock for the next year and a half through college, minus headers. Might as well keep them since finding a stock downpipe is being such a bear. Tomorrow starts day 1.

Now if i get a pcm out of a 98 GT, everything should be good. Do i need to have my vin programmed to it? and do you think I should get a tune on an L36 with headers and open cone?

"ohhhhhhh thats right. blew a rod in 3 motors now right?"

That 05 engine has much stronger rods tho... Hmmm?

Now hes gonna think about it, blow it up, and its gonna be all my fault.

what do you mean no it doesn't. the 05 has powder forged rods while the older l32 and l67's did not which suggests they are substantially stronger. Unless they also made them lighter and smaller as well?

Yea they are powdered, not that it really makes much difference. Fact of the matter is that he got a faulty engine from the get go. It never makes much sense to get a used motor and not put new bearings/seals and go through and take measurements.

the powdered rods arent much, if at all, stronger than the ones in the L36/67.

    oic.

I didn't think I had remembered it wrong.

"Stronger powdered metal sinter forged connecting rods are used in 2004+ supercharged, and 2005+ naturally aspirated engines"

I would have to assume they must be stronger, otherwise it was a waste of money to use them no?
