As for the original poster's question, how does a 551WHP Impala sound?

Duckcall's car? I can't see the vid at work, but I think I seen it before. The Z06 was a friend of his and is cammed and a few other mods... That impala ran 10's about a week ago.
Yep, Duckcall. I think he's the reigning champion of W-body Impalas. Not 100% but he's the fastest I know... with others licking at his heels like a pack of wolves.
I love them types of races, where you have a donkey jump atcha with his girl in the car, trying to be a bada#*. And you turn around and smoke the mess out of him. That happened to me when I was stationed in VA. I was in my 05 4X4 Quad Cab Dodge Ram and this little punk in a 2WD F-150 ( with his hot girl in the truck) started playin wiyh me at the light. Light turned green, let him pull away jus a little, and let him have it. And the funny thing about it was when I slowed down afterwards and he went by, he had 2FAST4U on his plate and his girl was hiding her face. I would have to. Seen him one other time after that, and all he could do was wave. Gotta love it!!!
See my mods in my sig? Would you suspect this innocent SE 'work in progress'?
Very good point. I see very good points from both sides of the issue. I am not in a rush and have time. I just decided to think ahead before I dump a bunch of cash into the GP. I've owned a few T/As and want to have one again. I am working on having both lol
A big decision with mods is reliablility. I hear so many high HP prix owners complain about breaking things. I priced out a high HP build and the cost was pretty high. On the flip side a cammed WS6 and some supporting mods and I have quite a reliable RWD car. Not to mention mods to an LS1 compared mods to a 3.8 is quite different. I miss the sound of a cammed V8! ever hear a G5X4 cam on a LS1? it sounds evil!
Maybe I can talk the wife into keeping both. I went minivan shopping for her this week and got the greenlight on whatever I want/can afford, after a new van sits in the drive. So there is why I am at this crossroad with the GP.
If possible that would be awsome. Having the best of both worlds. I feel ya on the mini van. My wife wants one. Wants to trade in our GT for it. There are some nice ones out there. My mom has a 06 Grand Caravan with a 3.8 V6 and it's pretty nice. Gets almost 30 MPG. Man I feel old, I'm actually sitting here talking about mini vans.lol!!!!
I've already taught my sons - you can't look cool in a mini-van. You can turbo charge it, but it's STILL a minivan. Luckily, my wife doesn't want one, even with child #3 due any day now. I think I've talked her into selling our F150 and getting an Expedition. It won't be a daily driver for her, as she has a Mustang for that. So it'll sit most of the week, and thus I won't take the hit to the pocket book that current gas prices will do to me.
I just wish she would stay happy with her Mustang V6 more or less stock. It's got a Roush appearance package on it, with the exhaust on the sides, different spoiler, and its been lowered. I put on an eBay FWI, and she's OK with that. I told her that for "only" $300 I could put a S/C on my Grand Prix, but if I did that, she'd want to do the same for her Mustang. Fortunately for me, adding an S/C to a Mustang is about $3000. So it won't be happening.
I guess I got lucky with my wife. She's not into fixing up her ride. So that leaves mor money for mine. LOL!!! It has taken alot to talk her into rims and tinted windows. Have any pics of the Stang? Sometimes it's good to have a woman that'll let you do something to yours if you do it to hers also, as long as you can get yours done first. Just wish ny wife was more into cars, but I guess I can't complain, because she does give good support for my GTP.
I am really amazed she hasn't pushed to do anything more to her Mustang. I dropped well over $2000 into my Impala so far. I've comfortable where I am now, but still want to lower it and maybe do rockers and throttle body. GP is likely only going to get an PLog. Then it's maintenance to get other issues cleared up.
I'm going to try to start saving now for one of the G8 GXPs in a few years. I should be able to convince my wife to get a "sedan" as I'll buy the manual transmission for her. I'm terrible with a manual, so it will be all hers. But I'll still want to trick it out for her so she can have fun with a back seat full of kids...
That's what I'm talking about. The G8's are awsome. Wouldn't mind having one myself. Been reading up on the GT and it has some pretty killer HP. That'll make for a good sleeper. that's what I like about my GTP being a 4 door, nobody expects much out of it until they get left sitting there. Kinda fun.
