installed modified 1.9s started the car and it was lightly ticking. Took it fir a drive and the ticked got worse till it pretty much stopped. But car was running bad. Thought a rocker came loose. There is white smoke from the car. Tightened all the rockers down and stared it again. No ticking but still white smoke. Any ideas or help?

they were all going to the right spark plugs and were all the way on the coil packs. what would cause the white smoke? would misfires caused that?

White smoke is coolant, do a compression test and or leakdown. Probably have a headgasket letting go or a cracked head

Did you take the lower intake manifold off too when you did the rockers? If so...you probably dumped a bunch of coolant into the motor...is your ICM plugged back in all the way too?

WHITE smoke? Could you possibly be mistakeing normal water vapor that exits from the tail pipe while engine is running (under certain condition)? Other than that, there is really nothing that would make white smoke just from changing the rockers, unless by chance you just blew a headgasket.

Did you somehow get a valve to come in contact with a piston? Either that or drop something in the engine somehow?

hey guys sorry for no update. it ended up being a bad rocker bolt... explination: did the front and back rockers with reusable rocker bolts. torqued down to 23ft lbs. took it for a test drive... and it sounded like a rocker tapping. the bolt wouldnt torque down the rocker to specs and keep it there so it was basically like i had a rocker off... vaccume leak, misfires, burning oil, ect all explained. got another bolt. all torqued down and runs perfect. thanks for all the help tho guys.

Did you not use Q-tips to suck up all the oil for the rocker bolt? Also I'd use a digital torque wrench over the clicky kind. Sometimes they don't click and you snap bolts off where you don't want to.
