OK. Well I bought my car back in november. I have had to replace all my plugs and wires since then. "msd is not cheap" no big deal, then i had two wheel bearings go out, damn thats like 400 bucks. my car,......is odd, its a 2001 gtp, its black, and beautiful. BUT, and here is my biggest problem. About 3 months ago the car started to stutter when i took off from a dead stop, almost like i was spinning the tires and the entire car shook violently, and is starting to get worse. but the weird thing is it only does it in first gear. and originally, it only did it when the car was in drive, if i manually shifted into first from a dead stop, it would not do it. now, it does it every time i take off. My father is a well respected mechanic, and he said before i assume anything, i need to make sure all my speed sensors are ok. "IM PRETTY SURE ITS NOT ONE OF THOSE THOUGH" I told him i think its my tranny, he says no, i say yes. i think its just because he does not want to tear it down and replace it for me. I would really like everyones opinion on this SO HELP ME GOD!!!!

Could it possibly be a vac. leak ? Check all of your hoses that go around the SC to the MAP. Esp the one under the SC snout for cracks or rotting.

Does your car shake with no gas applied (cruising) or just when you give it gas? Try checking your ball joints (cv axles). When I accelerated my car used to shake and that was the problem.

im starting to think either some kind of vacumm leak, torque converter, or .....F me, the dreaded 1st gear being shot, but its almost like it does not shift conpletely into 1st, thats the thing

no sir, car is fine when cruising, it only shutters in 1st gear thats it. i can get outta first gear, and put it to the floor, no slippage, no shaking, i know that a cv axle needs to be changed on the car, as well as a sway bar that i managed to break.

no, no codes, but i can get some, i dont care what it is thats wrong, cuz i can fix it quickly, but i have to at least get an idea, and its better to get mulitple opinions than just rely on what one person says. tomorrow im pulling the trans pan off to see if there are any little chunks, chips, or shavings of metal in the pan, well, more than what you would consider normal, i do know i have to change the fluid, ITS BLACK!!!

i have the same issue on a replacement trans i got from someone, they ripped me off. im fairly sure its first gear going, if i get above 17 mph and hit the gas it doesnt shudder or slip, if i *****foot it wont slip, if i gun the throttle it wont slip or shudder but launches really hard. from my research the first gear apply plate wears out and lets fluid thru so first clutches are not pressed tightly, light throttle not enought touque heavy throttle lots of pressure on the plate so it wont slip so bad, medium throttle just enough tourqe and not enough pressure to allow the slippage and get massive shudder that will shake your bowels loose

Mine does the same thing only after driving the car around for awhile. I had the tranny serviced and it got worse. Everyone told me it was the tranny but the funny thing is when i put my stock pcm back in for a bit it was fine, now i have my pcm i got from zzp back in and its doing it again?

ya, no metal shards, no nothin in tranny pan, trans fluid was disgustin, but, its still doin it. i have narrowed it down, check my speed sensors and abs, think about it, if the car is tellin my computer that the traction control needs to be turned on and is turning itself on, it will do this. im going to check all those, my cv axle, ball joints, and my vacumm housing to see if there is a crack, leak, etc. somethings not right, and im not sure if it has the aftermarket pcm in it or not, i imagine not, but then again, do these cars have govenors on them? because mine with hit 140 no problem, been there donne that, the only reason i slowed down was because, well its a 4 speed tranny, at 140 mph, my engine was turning 5000 rpms

well you could always disable your traction control to see if that your problem, just unplug one of your wheel speed sensors it will disable your abs/traction control then drive it to see if it fixes your problem. then you'll know if thats your problem or not

also anotherthing. ive had a problem like this before in my black gtp. never any codes i put 3 different transmisions in thanks god for my buddy at morads warrantying them, well come to find out whoever had the car before me never hooked the ground wire back up it was pinched between the coil pack bracket and the block not gettin a ground everysince the cars been fine since ive fixed the ground
(the ground that goes behind coil bracket bolt to the block)
