Thread: AEM Wideband o2

I just finished installing my wideband and when i turn the key over to accessory, the gauge isnt turning on. Does the car have to be started for anything to light up on the gauge? I know its got power and a good ground because i spliced into the power and ground from my oil pressure gauge mounted right next to the wideband and thats lighting up.

I would start the car to see if it works but i cant start it as i have the gas tank completely dry of gas for the e85 conversion. The pcm isnt programmed yet for the gas conversion.

The only way the WB would know if the car was on... was if the o2 was getting a reading. However, I think it should at least say 0 ... Does it light up at all?

Have you tried to turn the lights on your car to make sure you didnt tap into the light source wire?

Nope nothing lights up. but like i said the power and ground for the AEM is spliced into my power and ground for the oil pressure gauge and that is lighting up. Ive double checked my connections and to make sure the power is to power and ground is to ground

If I was in your shoes... I would take the gauge out.. and directly connect the + and - to the battery connection... just to eliminate wiring etc.. It should light up.

alright lawngoose i tried what u said and the gauge lit up. but that was with the o2 sensor disconnected from the gauge.

Ok, so that tells us that the gauge is getting juice directly connected. Not that you want to run a new wire in your pod... that's the direction I would be thinking of. But its odd that it would work before. Maybe take our your oil gauge and replace it with the WB?

In my Gauge pod... I have one postive wire, one negative, and one dimmer +. Its hooked up to the first gauge.. then daisy-chained to the next one... and then the next one. I assume this is how you connected it at first. Do your other gauges come on?

I would put the wideband on its own circuit. It's gotta power the display and the 02 sensor.

it would still read something, but it would go mega lean. mine would read even with the car in the 'on' position. i also agree with fosh.
