Ok so i'm workin on this 99 gtp for a guy. the car quit running and it seems like the more i do the more i find wrong i am about to get a stick of c4. So here is what has happened and the things that i have done and so on.
i picked the car up (non-running of course) no battery had to un hook the shift linkage to get it on the trailer blah blah blah. He says that it wont stay running it will run for about a minute and then it will die and wont run after that. So i get it home put a battery in it start it up pull it off the trailer and pull it in the garage and let it run until it dies(so i can see what its doing). it ran for about a min and got rough and died. tried starting it back up and it would fire and then die. i was getting a random miss fire code on the scanner. I checked the fuel pressure and it was low like 20psi, so i changed the fuel filter that was clogged so bad you couldn't blow through it. started the car again after that and checked the pressure it ran better for like 10 min then died and started doing the same thing again, the fuel pressure was better though it was like 50psi now.
I changed the plugs and wires(the plugs were fouled and the wires were shot). that help for a little bit anyway. then it would purr like a kitten and then it started acting up again. more more codes coming up at all. seems like one thing right after the other. today i checked the tps be cause it would start jumping around at idle before it died. the tps wasn't reading right so i changed it and it didn't fix the problem. it kept going from lean to rich and so forth and misfiring like crazy. so i took the throttle body off and it was leaking coolant in to the s/c housing and it was black and gooey in there so i cleaned it all up and am going to put it back together in the morning. i am thinking that the MAF may be bad but its not throwing any codes and the scanner says that its working. but im not convinced that its good. This thing is really testing my patience. so what do you guys think? any ideas. hope i bout got the nail hit on the head.
