Also it wasn't in a grand prix though, it was a 3800 Series III/4t65e swapped cutlass.

As long as I know there are turbo heads still looking at this thread I am going to ask this cliche question. What makes the ebay turbos junk? I mean in reality any good turbo brand is WAY overpriced if you ask me for what it is. I know turbos are sized and shaped precisely and scientifically but the entire part is made with a automatic machine isn't it? I know ball bearing turbos are better for obvious reasons but what would be the difference between a offbrand ballbearing one and a namenbrand ballbearing one of the exact same size, type, and everything? Thanks for any turbo help!

With $2000, I would do either of the following:

    1) Intercooled setup
    Full size intercooler
    1.9 ratio rockers
    Headers (TOG, SLP, ZZP)
    Wideband O2
    Intake
    180* Tstat
Whatever size pulley you can run
    Get it tuned

    OR

    2) Cam Setup
    XP or S1X cam
    Stock timing chain and dampener
    105# valve springs
    Headers
    Intake
    180* tstat
Whatever size pulley you can run
    Get it tuned

Maybe 42.5lb injectors for both setups depending on pulley and if you need them.
3.6/3.4 pulley, 42.5 injectors, Pacesetter headers, FWI, 13.48@102 mph
