So ive had this noise for about a month now and it is kinda weird to describe. You know those spring things that keeps you bathroom door's handle from putting a hole in your wall? well the sound it makes when you flick it kinda a warble sound, that is the sound my car is making. I only notice it when i am going under 30 mph and i let off the gas and coast, it may be doing it at higher speeds also but this is the speed where road noise and other trafic arent an issue. It sounds as if it is comming from the drives side c/v joint, best i can tell with out sitting in the engine compartment doing 30 down the road. Also when i am cruising and let off the gas there is a deeper sounding clunk when i get back on the gas comming from the same area, i suppose the two are realated.

Some one told me it might be my c/v joint, but i thought when those went bad they made a clicking sound while turning. my best thougth are mabye it is a tranny mount and the clunk is it moving back and forth. and when coasting it kinda vibrates in there ?

I am going to be doing my LIM here next weekend and i will have access to a jack so i can get under there and wiggle on some stuff, any one ever have this problem or have any ideas.

    Thanks in advance

On a totaly seperate note after the car warms up and i am sitting at an idle when i turn my wheel the rpms drop and i get vibrations, i know with my polly uppers there would be more vibration but the rpms drop to like 500. but when i am in park and turn the wheel this does not happen any ideas on this maybe bad ground?

I think I'm having the EXACT same problem, it was such a weird nose, i didnt even know if i could describe it, a propeller plane is ppppperfect, check out the "similar threads" at the bottom I read over some last night and one mentioned a bad bearing on its ways out. And i HAVE been driving with my ABS/Traction control off light on for some time now, I bet the bad bearing that set it off in the first place is just getting worse and now making that sound.

    Hope this helps

Did something similar to the sound described a couple times; though, I had more issues with a rubbery grind sometimes when I'd put on the brakes.

Regardless, it's easy enough to take a peek at. Mostly you just want to make sure they're attached and in one piece... if you can't tell if they're in one piece, get a jack and let up each wheel of the car until the suspension is fully extended. If the bushing isn't whole, it will be obvious.

The rubber on my passenger side was completely out of the metal jacket... just fell out when we unbolted and swung the control arm out. Oops.

    ^Right on.. thanks.
Regarding the thread I suggested to rossscrappy, I did the "swirve" test lol. just lane to lane, and the noise completely dissapeared when I turned the wheel to the RIGHT, shifting the cars weight to the LEFT, and taking some pressure off the RIGHT side/tires of the car, Sooooo....that, combined with my ABS/Traction off light, prolly front right barring is on its way out... Ill obvioulsy the ABS codes read, but Ive got more motivation to get the Barring fixed now.

So today before i backed out of my drive way with the car in park i kinda jiggled the steering wheel back and forth a lil bit and there was a slight clunking noise, so i am pretty sure it is a bushing of some sort down there. When i get a chance to get under the car ill take a look, i just hope i find something there or lack of something there. I have been meaning to replace both of my hubs. Ever since i had the car the wires were ripped out of the hub for the wheel speed sensor and that didnt make my car happy. i guess with one dosconnected and the other one intact the computer didnt know what was going on and every time i would go in reverse it would pulsate the breaks. Made my rotors have all sorts of swirl groves cut into them. Since then i have been driving with the other sensor disconnected and all has been fine. Strangely enough i thought it would trow a code with even one of them being disconected, but even with both no code. My hubs are deff next on my to do list. That and replace stupid window track for the second time, junk yard part only lasted 2 days.
